The whole UK planning system is broken and is in desparate need of streamlining.

Too often vital decisions are left in the hands of Councillors who either don't understand what they are being asked to vote on, or (in the case of SCC) went ahead and voted against the PI's recommendation anyway.

Even if the correct decision is made, there are too many small organisations (usually with little public support) that have nothing better to do than challenge the decision in the Courts - delaying projects, increasing costs and generally making a nuisance of themselves.

If (big If, she really should loose) Sarah Finch wins, the effect on the whole planning system will be devastating, as the concept of 'tertiary responsibility' can be applied to numerous other developments.

e.g. Wind turbines - how are they going to dispose of the blades at the end of their productive life? Hint - they cannot be recycled and so are buried.

e.g. Solar Cell farms - how are the panels going to be recycled at the end of their life? Hint - currently they can't. They are too fragile to be processed so are broken up and buried.

That's just downstream - i.e. during and after construction. If it's taken upstream to the manufacturing process of the Wind Turbines / PV panels / EV batteries etc, then that opens up an even bigger can of worms for renewables. e.g. the use of child labour in the Cobalt mines in DRC. The huge amounts of water used in Bolivia to mine the Lithium. The 1,500 - 2,000 kg of rock that needs to be mined and processed to produce 1 gm of the rare earths that are vital for them to function.

On the subject of Councillors, I recall during the 2nd Loxley hearing one of them (Povey??) said that he couldn't imagine a worse sight than a Rig on location.

He didn't understand (or didn't want to understand) that the Rig would be there for a max of three months, of that from the Wedding Party area, it would take up less than 1 Deg of the horizon horizontally and 5 Deg vertically - even a small person standing in the way would completely obscure it.

I ran some quick numbers at the time and dumped them in the chat thread, that for the same power output of one Well, 3 x 1.5 MW wind turbines would be needed. Each turbine post is 65m high and the rotor diameter is 77m - and they would be permanent installations, not gone after three months...

Imported oil typically comes at double the CO2 footprint of Oil produced on the UKCS.

These people think that oil demand will fall off a cliff if we meet net zero.

It won't.

Every credible study shows that world oil consumption will stay at about the current level until at least the mid 2030's, and then slowly tail off over a period of decades.

As far as the UK goes, HM Govt own forecast is that UK oil consumption will fall by just 15% by 2040.

Similarly, even if we meet our Net Zero obligations, by 2050 some 25% of our electicty needs will be met using fossil fuels.

These people have no idea just how much our standard of living depends upon the availability of cheap energy - the recent price shock caused by Putin's invasion of Ukraine should have shown them how important hydrocarbons still are to our way of life.

1. Why haven't they used todays (or previous RNS's) to update us on the ETA of the guns? They've had a month and that's more than enough time to get a good handle on when they can expect the guns on site and the DST program to re-commence?

2. Why haven't they used todays (or previous RNS's) to state the results of the final log interpretation (for the Hoya in the 81/2" hole section), which they've had for over six weeks?

But to spell it out for you, it's when you opened the account that is logged on your profile, not when you first posted.

Believe what you want - anyone with a modicum of knowledge can see that I work in the Oil Industry and therefore my knowledge is much more reliable than that of a fire extinguisher salesman.

Like, for example, I knew that the 7" casing didn't need to be run on Pin-1 to use 4 5/8" perf guns and you were adamant (you got very heated actually, even called me a Liar...) that it was proof that the 7" had been run.

Your beloved Sarah will loose - just not this week. If you'd been paying attention to the last Court Hearing, you'd know that the judgement won't actually issued for several weeks.

In the meantime, UKOG still haven't started water injection on HH-2 despite having all permissions in place for many months.
