RE: Parliamentary News15 Dec 2023 16:13
To me it appears there has been a concerted effort over the past few days to combine as one issue, any possible HMG guarantee and also the need for HMG "approval". The funding/guarantee issue is not new and it would surely have been negligent of Navitas to not have explored the possibility of securing the cheapest form of lending i.e HMG guarantee. Given the situation its hard to believe that Navitas, who as we all know have committed significant time and resources to this, do not have other, albeit more expensive options to consider. With regards to any HMG "approval" its clear from Moggers excellent work that the various MP's have gone out of their way to state clearly that this is a matter for FIG.
Quite interesting in all this is the timing of recent events, as we now know it was October when HMG treasury apparently scotched the idea of a sovereign guarantee this has then been quickly followed in November by the six MP's visit and then since we have the visits to the Falklands by RKH, Navitas and the representative of HMG FCO David Rutley.
Its a long way just to wish Merry Christmas - or maybe it was to wish Happy New Year ? roll on 2024 !
