@Warik. Open an account with Plus, get a pro account will mean your margin is 5% instead of 20% and you also get negative balance protection. So higher leverage but negative balance protection maximises gains and minimises losses.

the cost to settle claims like that are like a small pimple on the backside of most of these banks. I would focus on the elephant in the room ie. the rights issue.

The only USP Plus have is their negative balance protection for pro users. Theeir overnight funding rates are double digit, might as well borrow through your credit card. I rather use IG, who have better overnight rates.

@ Colinco, I know. The only reason it is this low is because of the placing, banks have other levers available to manage capital. Plus they need to return the BCR money and say they will grow organically. Taking any government money is a bad idea. They need the rights issue to match the BCR funding 2:1.

yes there is a slide in there which shows over time revenue per client far exceeds marketing cost. The problem is how do they know, marketing cost effectiveness is very difficult to measure, as Martin Sorrell once famously quoted.

If market p&L is negative going forward they can always hedge, to reduce profit leakage. It is controllable.

I like to always know what I am buying from both an equity net asset perspective and a future cashflow perspective. For each 700p share you are paying 460p for future cashflows which could be IMO 200p a year. So in 2.3 years this would have paid for itself. DYOR!
