Ripley as it happens Yunus is anti-mining anything - not just coal but gas and oil! Totally unrealistic in the modern world.

We already know she's pro-mining and understands the financial and energy benefits to the country. With the work GCM has done helping the locals over the last years, hearts and minds, and a new PM explaining the wholesome benefits of energy security, jobs and financial savings of mining own coal the people will gladly accept. Even Hasina's energy chief Hamid recognised the benefits of digging own coal.

As Khaleda authorised the mine at Phulbari it may well have been Hasina's hatred of Khaleda that was the stumbling block to mining Phulbari all these years.

Not true. There have been some monumental rises along the way. But yes this has now fallen back because Hasina was never making an economical decision about the mine, it was entirely based on corruption and what others could make with the mine not being opened. Now that Hasina has gone it's much more likely an economical decision about the mine will be made. And with China state owned Powerchina as our partners this could really start moving forward.

China are masters at this game. They have $billions of assets in Bangla. You can be sure that they will already be allied with whoever is taking over.

Hasina was the 1 blocking the mine to enrich her corrupt cronies and her allies in India. India gave her sanctuary. Can be sure that India's influence in Bangla will now cease.

That leaves China in pole position. The new regime in Bangla will see China as antiHasina and refusing the loans weakened her considerably. Therefore an ally of the new regime.

One can only laugh at fission suggesting the anarchists will loot the mine. Will they loot China's coal power stations too? Or Russia's nuclear plant? They can't do the mine which is why it was outsourced to AsiaEnergy in the first place.
