Islamists in Bangladesh rallied on Tuesday to demand the interim government legalize a national charter proposed after the ouster of the previous regime, saying that there is no possibility of holding a general election without a legally binding roadmap for political reforms.

Thousands of supporters of the largest Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami and seven other political parties who gathered in the capital, Dhaka, also demanded that the next election — expected to be held in early 2026 — be held under a proportional representation system.

Need a confirmed election date before anything. Bangladesh election campaign is usually 90 days - then that has already passed for the mooted Feb 7th date. Yunus will be with his puppet masters like Soros at COP getting instructions on how to move forward. Just as the political violence is starting to heat up in Bangladesh.

In fact it was idiots like Digitalia that were saying Yunus was only there to hold the election and that that would be done immediately within 60 days! Lol He also claimed coal hating Yunus would approve the mine anyway. So here we are well over a year later and still no election has been officially confirmed and Yunus is still pushing all his green bs. Yunus' backers like Clinton may have lost a lot of power following the election defeat but he still has Soros in his corner. We can be sure until the election is actually announced by Yunus the wily old fox will be doing everything in his power to stave off the election and stay in power. Even the BNP know this is still a big possibility. It is why Tarique Rahman will not step foot in Bangladesh. Digitalia bless him is a little bit premature with his celebrations.

India’s Adani Power has warned the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) that it will suspend electricity supply to Bangladesh starting November 11 if outstanding payments are not cleared by November 10.

Fauzul Kabir Khan, adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, confirmed the matter on Tuesday night (November 4). He said, “We have received a letter from Adani. They have stated that if the dues are not paid by November 10, power supply will be stopped from November 11. We will discuss the issue.”

In late October, Adani Power’s Vice Chairman and Head of Energy Regulatory and Commercial, Avinash Anurag, sent a letter to the BPDB chairman. The letter stated that despite repeated requests for payment, BPDB has yet to settle outstanding bills amounting to USD 496 million. Of this, BPDB itself has acknowledged USD 262 million as an “undisputed due.”

Khaleda Zia approved the Phulbari coalmine all those years ago. It could be very significant she is to return home to Dinajpur and will fight the election from there. Phulbari mine is less than 20 miles away and could bring massive investment, major infrastructure developments and huge numbers of jobs into the region.

Interim govt increased LNG purchases crippling finances and foreign reserves yet load shedding was also increased. Coal still major player. Does not list India supplied energy as coal from the Adani plant which would take total coal power supply higher than LNG. Lots of talk about failing to develop renewables and digging for new gas wells. But not 1 mention of the giant elephant in the room!

Every time the bid moves up there's a big sell, just enough to push it back down and then the seller goes quiet again. Been like that for weeks now. Interesting that the seller doesn't want to give too many shares away, always just enough to cover the buys and stop the sp rising. The big question is why?

I would not expect coal to be mentioned as they have already said leave it to the next govt to decide and Yunus seems to spending his last days in charge reinforcing his green bs. He wants Bangladesh to forget the huge debts he's leaving behind and just remember him for trying to save the planet! The sooner he goes the better. Would expect the 30% rise to be attainable though as soon as the election date is confirmed in the coming weeks.

The APL's Godda plant supplies electricity only to Bangladesh but after the Sheikh Hasina government fell last year, the government allowed the plant to be connected to the Indian grid by connecting it with ISTS, which transmits electricity across states, enabling flow from surplus states to those in a power deficit. The government's decision will allow APL to sell power to domestic operators.

A resettlement plan has been created following the ADB's guidelines. The plan states no relocation will occur before compensation and resettlement assistance are settled. Plans are in place to create a village with all necessary amenities near the mine, including land allocation and a model town. The acquired land will allow for agricultural use before mining begins. The cost of implementing the resettlement project has been estimated at nearly 1 billion dollars.
