George Frangeskides, Chairman at ALBA, explains why the Pilbara Lithium option ‘was too good to miss’. Watch the video here.
Interestking – I feel exactly the same as you, which is why I haven’t posted for a while. However, I hope that it really is au revoir as opposed to goodbye and that we will see you on the ‘other side’. I live and work in central London (Yes, some of us still do: we’re called nutters), and know exactly which brasserie you were referring to. In fact I shall walk by there next week on my way to the office to make sure it is still there and back in business! (Actually, though, the Langham hotel does have a rather nice bar where they sell excellent Old Fashioneds, so, perhaps when our golden day comes we can have a fact-finding mission to a few of the best haunts to celebrate!). All the best to all of us very l-o-n-g term holders.
Petrol - I agree with IK: best post for ages! (even better from you as you're in the business).
Yes, mine received this morning.
After all these years I've only just noticed (from today's RNS) that our registered address is on HOPE Street. Since our well is named PERSEVERENCE, I guess Starchild's psychic cat must be called FAITH (or Endurance)?
Love it! A bit of levity in these testing times: much needed (though envy you having a bottle of the Amarone happy juice on hand to assist technical analysis!).
Star - TVM for that link. Had never seen that sketch before. Now I can picture you and IK, though don’t know which is which, ha ha.
PoC - I trust entirely in your abilities as our resident soothsayer: I just hope you are right that there are more positives to come! Keeping fingers crossed.
Glad you are still around. Have given the board a bit of a wide berth recently as the vibe has changed somewhat (well, that and Life not giving me much spare time).
However, I trust entirely in your abilities as our resident soothsayer, so am glad you think there might be more positives on the way. Keeping fingers crossed.
No.
Interestking- I tried to recommend one of your earlier posts, but it wouldn’t accept. Now I think the post has been removed completely. Just pointing out that in-house censorship seems now to be in force! Aarrgghh!
PoC - TVM for considered replies: much appreciated. Apols have been otherwise engaged today (this work business does rather eat into one’s day ha ha)
OK, whilst certain folks on here will accuse me if no more than guesswork and conjecture (we have nothing else to go on at present), if someone starts running a book on likely further developments, my ticket in on BHP being in the mix.
PageofCups - You obviously have good contacts in the industry as you always come up with professional and plausible reasoning for the BoD's actions. So thanks as always for your post earlier which would explain a lot.
Like others, I have been scratching my head over all this. Two points in particular stick with me. (1) SP and IK are both skilled presenters, yet the two recent interviews were not star performances. Maybe they are, like us all, having to come to terms with how to present virtually rather than to a packed room. My assessment of their performances is that they looked rushed. Come to think of it, the whole thing looks to a degree rushed (though no doubt conversations have been going on for some time). (2) Why, when SP has fought tooth and nail to keep as much of our asset as possible - even rejecting derisory offers in the past - would he now give away a quarter (particularly now when we were also going to be our own operator)? The only thing can be is if a major who are not presently widely involved in South America (let's pluck a name out of the air = BHP) came along and said they want to enhance their footprint in that geographical area quickly, they like the look of both BPC and CERP, but the terms are that they want it all as a combined package and with SP heading it up, though not losing LK. BHP have a toe in Trinidad already. Using BHP as my example would certainly explain why SP is currently in Aussie. So, PoC, could you ask your contacts whether they think BHP could be in our sphere please?
Gadbury- that is so funny!
Anyway, chill guys: just look forward to tomorrow’s 07:00 RNS wherein we announce we have bought ... Venezuela (?!)
Hear hear Patoir! Interestking you cannot resign: if you go, how can any of us apply for admission to the Langan’s Securities Exchange if the chief invigilator goes? We’ll give you a pay rise!
My first rule of investing is always to look at the quality of the management. I think we have a first-rate team, and my view is that they have had (as Interestking said earlier) to overcome many obstacles over the years - none of their making. It would no doubt have been easy for them to fold under the pressure (particularly last year when the exclusive discussions ended), but they didn’t.
I wonder if this might be a good time to press the re-set button and start from how ProActive reported this week’s events. Of course we don’t know who exactly authored this piece i.e. whether it was a subjective analytical view or if it was simply lifted from press releases, but the overall feel is positive and echoes my current stance, even though I am as astonished as everyone else about the recent turn of events.

Guys - this board has always (well in the main) been a dignified and useful tool for us LTHs - particularly those of us who cannot spend all day looking at it. Let’s stand up for the principle of free speech. All views, negative and positive, welcome. Please don’t let it descend into a slanging match like what happened at III and latterly at ADVFN.
Bonum - if you could not recognise that my comment about SP having something up his sleeve was tongue-in-cheek then you really have lost it old bean. Of course it is conjecture, but conjecture is also an acceptable point of discourse without knowing all the background.
Starchild - TVM: your post is excellent as your clearly-thought-through synopsis is logical and realistic. I agree with you and Jim-the-Know that there simply has to be more to all this in the background, yet to be revealed - besides, PageofCups said to expect more surprises, and I believe entirely in his abilities as our board prophet!
Up until now I have been trying to decide why I feel somewhat uneasy about all this, leaving aside the obvious financial, rationale, timings, logic, plain fundamentals, etc. I think an analogy can be made that we BPC-ers were like a teenager whose father had promised us a potential big inheritance. So, over the years we have put up with living in his tiny ramshackle house, helping to repair it many times over the years, in the expectation of goodies to come forth. Now, at the last minute, when it was all within touching distance, dad’s gone and married the woman down the road and moved her brood into our house with the expectation that they share in our forthcoming riches. To be fair, they seem a nice enough bunch and it can be argued that they have more than us at the moment, but, still, we are now expected to share our (hoped-for) riches with others, and so feel somewhat robbed into the bargain (as do they it must be said). Oh well, using the same analogy, we can only hope that Daddy (in our case SP) knows what he is doing and has all our futures at heart. So, come on SP, show us soon what you have hidden up your sleeve. Please!
PageofCups - Crikey, you were not wrong when you said last week that Simon Potter has a few surprises for us! Whatever next? Not sure how I feel about this one, to be honest. I can see the reasoning, but would have preferred to wait until after Per1 drill. Will have to think about it more.
Starchild - I have kept links to all the interviews / presentations over recent times - I think about 20 - but I think you have got all the most important ones in your recent post. The only extra piece I found useful was the article in the Tribune last November, which gives an intelligent, rational view of the scene in/from the Bahamas

I have been tied-up with other things recently (life etc) and so have only had chance to give the board a cursory glance. So please forgive a bit of catching-up here: Starchild - your posts and research are brilliant and well-researched and thanks a mill for all you do as your input is incredibly valuable (even to 10-year-long-holders like me); Interestking - your idea of the Langan's Securities Exchange made me laugh, but as chief invigilator you would have to decide on the passmark for any applicant gaining a licence to practice (no doubt setting the bar - pun intended - very high! Harryoffdock - sorry to hear you had problems with IG: I had better not admit to having worked for them several years ago, so I won't; PageofCups - the one thing I have always admired about your posts is the complete positivity and, Crikey, your hunch that SP had some surprises in store for us was uncanny seeing what happened yesterday! Linton78 - I hope your feeling re Stena is correct. GLA and thanks for making this board what it should be i.e. a forum for good debate. I've been a paid member of ADVFN for 18 years and that board has descended into farce. It's clearly going the way of the old III board. Oh well. Onwards!
