Yes TradingLad that is what I posted earlier today. 100% margins. Could be the reason for a lot of forced selling on smaller companies the last few days. Margins are normally 30% to 40% so an increase to 100% is very painful.

Also not many countries outside of the UK allow spreadbetting. The USA certainly doesn't.
Agree very difficult to place a spreadbetting short on small companies. The best one I had was on Domino Pizza. Priced dropped 100p on a trading range. Then went long whilst it went back up 90p.

Trading Lad, when we were at 0.5p a few years ago I had £100k per 1p. Luckily I closed that one at a slight profit before we sank down to 0.04p

You would have to be mentally insane to have a short on COPL in the last 6 months. No spreadbetter would place a short on a company that could explode upwards at any moment. Anyone who thinks that there are people shorting COPL are also mentally insane. You really don't have a clue what you are talking about!

Most of the spreadbet companies have increased margins to 100% so will be causing a few forced sellers in the market especially on smaller companies.

In fact my spreadbet on Afc was what caused me to go bankrupt last March when Covid hit the market. If covid hadn't of happened I would have been £0.5m up on Afc now.
