As of 16 May 2026, eight laboratory-confirmed cases, 246 suspected cases and 80 suspected deaths have been reported in Ituri Province of the Democratic Republic of the Congo across at least three health zones, including Bunia, Rwampara and Mongbwalu. In addition, two laboratory confirmed cases (including one death) with no apparent link to each other have been reported in Kampala, Uganda, within 24 hours of each other, on 15 and 16 May 2026, among two individuals travelling from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Crisu it's already happening where people who have been to infected areas can't travel to America (yes I know Americans are stupid). Currently the outbreak is quite contained and it's easy to limit those places as there are few. However if the containment is broken the list of countries will increase and it becomes much harder. Clearly the risk is small but Ebola has been persistent in DRC and now Uganda with relatively large numbers. Transit hubs like Addis are obvious places to start asking questions because people use it for international links. Ethiopia itself is remote from Uganda and DRC by South Sudan and Kenya however if cases start appearing there then it's front line 150kms from TK.

Risk is largely risk because we don't know enough. Clearly it's not easy to pass but it's already passed many times and a vaccine is 9 months away. Measures to slow will be a priority and that's containment like it or not.

Every mine has technical risk. Will the ore process as expected will the grades and recovery be as expected. The dial in takes several months. This is expected and standard.

The big risk is Ebola, will borders be shut to reduce the spread of the strain. As a major travel hub and proximity to the outbreak it seems likely that there may be restricted movement.

Anyone who thinks the mine isn't being built must think the Ethiopian government, banks and global contractors are all in on the scam to upset shareholders.

Imagine moving 90 families on phase one, destroying their property then not building a mine.

Ken there's certainly plenty of hype about a 2 to 3 year escalation in gold priced in US$. I think it's inevitable given the rapid deterioration in US and $ trust globally.

I don't know what $6000 oz gold would look like in £/€.

It's a strange one for KEFI because much of their costs will be in $ or Birr but their profit defined in £ for LSE comparison.

I certainly buy the idea that it could fall to $4300 or so before heading up. I believe it will cross year end around $4500 and next year will start to move up.

I do expect inflation to rise which should create a massive problem for gold because of the yield on paper wealth in high interest times. However I have to question the ability of governors especially in the US to raise substantially interest rates to curb inflation given the debt situation. It could well totally remove the option of credit which most Americans use for purchases. Ultimately the US economy and the majority of consumers are technically bankrupt. Without debt they do buy and I don't think that kind of stagnation is survivable for America.

So I see gold as not losing out to yield competition as of course gold has no yield at all and the asset appreciation being the major driver.

I think that this could work very nicely for KEFI

I had 3 buys in today at 1.07 but they didn't fill. Maybe next week but I suspect it'll refloat a bit next week.

There will be opportunities ahead I am sure. The next couple of years it's going to be quite volatile I suspect, although I do expect it to trend up I am thinking 1.10 to 1.60 will be the range this year.

This is the rationale for Harry saying there's more TKs. It's very easy to see west of TK where there are banded zones some of which may be controlling gold rich ore into mineable. They are visible because of the nature of the terrain. Ridges, outcrops and valleys migrating west.

As the source of TK is unknown it's not beyond a possibility that gold has been carried in the same manner.

Obviously it's a theory they have and they have stated the intention to look and kick some rocks.

Kefi: near oversold and close to finishing the pullback: Kefi is bouncing around the floor of its range and a mildly descending price channel. The key support lies around or just below 1.01p, with the possibility of a brief overshoot towards 1p. The pullback from recent highs near 1.6p looks close to exhaustion, with RSI in the low 30s and edging towards oversold territory. More cautious traders may want to wait for an end-of-day close above recent resistance through 1.2p, or even a recovery above old April support near 1.25p, before assuming the correction is over.

Fantasy I find it entertaining to think HAA would run anything in SA. KEFI certainly wouldn't have the operational role. SA looks like a great opportunity and it looks like uninhabited desert. I guess they have a plan for water.

Target all that can be seen now is some earthworks. The construction camp and the road clearing. Possibly the airstrip but it's very close to the proposed road so I don't know what it is.

They say October is steel and concrete time. When that happens there's something to see in photos.

Hopefully the next fund raise is the equity to take back a larger chunk of SA. If they can raise $75m debt and $25m from the market to see SA into production at 25% holding would be excellent.

Fantasy that probably didn't translate well for me but surely the discount is what it is. The share price.

What should the discount actually be is a very different thing.

personally I don't buy the African region discount as anything other than snobbery. In Africa things get done because someone says do it not because of government red tape. Extreme weather and political unrest aren't any worse in Africa than anywhere else. Delays are much less costly because the human costs are much much lower.

As a place to be Africa is super in my opinion. Imagine moving people off of land in England.

Fanners equally I hate the mentality where everything is negative. Having work with Brits from time to time it seems to be something some suffer with. The constant whining gets a bit tiresome.

Personally if I don't like something I avoid it, purporting to hold shares in something you expect to lose shows a strange mental illness.

Kefi are open TK mine. Lycopodium has confirmed they are contracted, the EEP confirmed they are doing the electric connection, the locals are moving to the new village, the banks confirmed the investment, the market confirmed the equity, and Harry confirmed just 6 weeks ago they are on the timeline.

So I don't understand why this isn't going to be a huge success because that's the plan and the plan is being executed

It's out of Kefi hands now, it's up to the contractors to deliver against their contracts.

I think the board was correct to raise the additional funds when they could. We don't know what's ahead and they couldn't advance without safeguarding shareholder interests.

The schedule is available for all to see. As of April 10 we know they were relocating phase 1 resettlement. We also know that allowed them access to the land they needed at that point.

I see no reason to assume anything other than they remain on course and they are building the mine they said they are.

I don't think that you can suggest anything else without evidence.

Obviously this is a complex situation and undoubtedly things won't all go to plan but this isn't a tight schedule. It's very realistic when you compare to more complex mine builds across Africa successfully completed by the same engineering contractors who has a very strong track record of delivery.

Anyone ordering satellite images don't use On Geo for Ethiopia as the report is only in low Res as it's early in the morning with insufficient light. Use Airbus based instead, I can access it in Europe but you may need to hide UK to receive the report.

They only allow 500Ha per image so you have to get the location spot on.

Cjm what aspect of my posts is ramping. Surely if I were "ramping" I would be only writing positive things check me out. I brought up the election and Ebola as clear risks. Never mentioned previously. Not a smart thing for someone trying to talk the price up.

I hold a substantial amount of shares, I bought because the price is ridiculously cheap for a world class mine in a company with a world class management. The mine is in the care of world-class contractors and the mine in the highest grade, low cost in Africa. It fully funded and under construction.

That's not ramping its simply stating fact.
