The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Personally I don't bother spending large amounts of my time following companies where I have long-standing concerns over their strategy and consider structurally a mess. Especially at the expense of studying for exams. But nowt so queer as folk...
I see we have some backseat managers on the board criticising the management for things they are sure they are about to do. Of course they could do a better job. Of course. That's why they're spending their time ******** and whinging on bulletin boards rather than actually managing an oil and gas company. It's what all top managers do. When you're that good at management you don't have to actually do it, no you just go online and talk about how great you are and how rubbish everyone else is. Jesus ******* wept.
P0werplay - I agree it's possible we won't get a return and everyone should be cognisant of the risks of investing in this (or any) o&g explorer. But i have to take issue with you blaming posters here for people being "sucked in" . If you are down here (and that currently includes me) then it's your own fault and no one elses. No one forces anyone to buy a share. Understand the risk, only invest what you can afford to lose and most of all own the consequences of your own decisions.
Doubts? Certainly. You'd be mad not to have some. There are a couple of things that could really hamper progress here but ultimately they can be alleviated by tanz govt and key investors. My take is that ultimately the incentives of tanz govt, investors and aex are aligned and that aex will get the licence and a cash injection to move production and further exploration on. The question is not whether there are doubts but whether the risk v reward is worth it. All investing is risky. O&G explorers especially so. But for me the risk v reward at this price is heavily in favour of buying.
Fair enough. I would say however that if a red line for investment was whether I thought the board and senior management were paying themselves too much in salary and bonuses I wouldn't touch 99% of listed companies!
Lol. Sure, you strike me as a learned black history scholar. Here's a fact for you : in the UK you can openly buy a seat in the legislature by donating money to a political party. Now that's corruption for you. I take it you don't invest in uk companies then?
"African countries are corrupt fact hmmmm" (A) Jesus wept. Little bit racist no? Sure plenty of African leaders and politicians are corrupt, you can't tar entire countries accross an entire continent with the same brush (B) where do you think those African politicians learned it from. And where do you think they stash their I'll gotten gains
