Very logical and well-argued article.
Everyone will I’m sure have a different view (not the first time it’s been discussed for sure ;-). Personally I think GOG. They are the only one really of the three that were seeing positive share price growth post-2018. They had a knock a few years back when they lost the midlands rail contract, but were actively progressing international growth and fairly positively, pre-covid. They haven’t published the “at-risk” signs that FGP have during covid which may be down to their unusual year end dates but more likely they have continued to generate reasonable cash flow. See what others think on here.
One constant these last few months...markets overreacting to everything ...
Finding the position on Covid more and more bizarre by the day. WHO slipped out that their best estimate is 1/10 have been infected globally (05/10 Exec Meet). Which would be a mortality rate of 0.14%. Which is not that far removed from seasonal flu mortality rate. I fully understand there are other considerations here (morbidity, hospitalisations etc) but it still seems incredibly odd. Calculated they are spending 37x more than the norm to save each human life (compared to say safety regulation calcs or NICE medical decisions on treatment availability)...
Thought about it a lot today and have just turned completely about on my sell decision earlier....I know....pointless and fickle ;-) anyway bought back in at 164.8. Added a few hundred shares for free so not all bad. Will leave it alone now as distracted me all day !
You are totally right and I wouldn’t suggest anyone dip in and out tbh. I am very prepared that I may have got this totally wrong haha! Equally I’m not willing the price down either. If people stay in and they win big absolute fair play to them :-)
Ok! That’s me out then as stay away....B@lls :-)
Agreed to a very large extent. Just conscious that in relation to UK inter-regional travel the numbers would be hit hard if you can’t even travel through a lockdown area. Very practically, lots of individuals won’t be able to get where they are headed. For me, I couldn’t even get to work anymore even though my start and end point destinations are both low risk.
The part of the lockdown strategy im not at all clear on is whether you will be allowed to “travel through” a lockdown area. Anyone read anything that clarifies this? Obvs there is a world of difference in a lockdown that just restricts the movements of those within it, to not being able to travel through it....
Must confess I cashed out at 170. Was not my plan at all but think we might see 2-3 days of pressure on SP here. Still hold the view it’s massively undervalued and if I have timed poorly I’ll still get back in (even if have to take a small loss from my mucking about ;-) Either way best of luck to everyone however you are playing, what is undoubtedly just a bump in my view.
Not sure anyone said Stagecoach was similar ?
Anyway...enough of suitable alternatives....right now we don’t need particularly need them so all a bit irrelevant :-) another good rise!
Just to clarify though GOG operate in UK, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Germany and Singapore. They aren’t just UK either.....
@valuseek - I think GOG (assuming we start to unwind lockdowns in next 3 months) will recover pretty well. 73% down on year start. It doesn’t actually need to recover either a) fully or b) even that quickly, for it to be a great return. A host of local bus brands that it can choose to contract or expand as needed. People won’t stay locked in forever. The only question is how they ride out their available funding while revenue is low. Either way I guess time will tell!
For me probably GOG if it stays depressed slightly longer than NEX. Suspect it will go on a similar trajectory just a little delayed
Was near 10k down here at one point....it got a bit depressing...but now way back into profit...v pleased held my nerve :-)
@Holla - couldnt agree more!
I’m sounding like Trump now haha! Sorry about that ;-) I’m just saying I think for many/most people it isn’t probably that awful. But yes the vulnerable and the elderly should probably sit it out if they can!
Agree 100%. I don’t know anyone else that’s had it tbh. For me it was a rough up and down few weeks but I personally thought it was nothing at the time lol. Work banned me from the office (rightly so) and forced the testing bit. I would have merrily carried on :-) had worse hangovers ;-)
@holla - I was confirmed as having covid relatively early on so don’t misunderstand me I think it’s real. I just think possibly something more is occurring now. Potentially just a combination of opportunistic political behaviour combined with the usual government incompetence on stats ha!
