Also, why divert any resource into looking at alternative fuels if the intent isn't there ?

I'm getting very jittery and really hacked off over the continual pushing back of projects .

Lets be factual here on the announcement from Trio.

They say :-

"We expect at least one additional well at Asphalt Ridge by year’s end."

That is a comment made by Trio , not Valkor. Plus it does say "at least" . That hints at more than three.

However, it kind of infers that they may know something, or are they merely speculating , or can't quite assess what they are being told.

They are quite definite over the production figures of these three (2 drilled, plus at least 1 to be drilled) wells by years end.

Now - go to the Trio website and they say there :- "A third well is expected to be drilled as early as late October and an additional five wells during Q4 2024, subject to rig and services availability." (12th Sept 24)

Which is correct ? To me - that eludes to probably more than one drilled by end of 2024 (Drilling wells and producing have 2 differing timelines). This shows me that it isn't just Jason that can't quite analyse the information he has been given effectively.

I don't think their would necessarily be much of a change of plan between the September and October update.

What I cant find is any information for Lafayette and commenting on how their (up to) $10m investment is proceeding.

Although , ultimately, I believe that the projects will succeed, I truly am beginning to understand the plight of both Tantalus and Sisyphus.

I have been invested in this share a long time - probably too long. This whole scenario is now becoming rather tedious to the point that I am beginning to lose interest in what appears to be a world leading product. The lack of ANY news (even if it were bad news) is frustrating.

However, I am searching all the links, news etc - and found Maria Strandesen.

I wonder if by appropriate questioning. she might "spill the beans" over the real reason why Maersk pulled out.

It might lead to finding out why MSC are seemingly dithering over trialling.

I don't think I have the ability to ask subtle enough questions to elicit the appropriate answers.

Besides, there seems to be many more people in this Share Chatroom that have much more in depth knowledge than I have, should dialogue prevail with Maria.

On the live feed today at the"Shaping the Future of Shipping" event, there was a networking feature right at the bottom .It invited you to seek out anyone that you might wish to connect with , presumably at this event.

I typed in Jason Miles - the result came up as no one found with this name . I also tried others who are on the Board of Directors, which gave the same result.

One more interesting point -

I heard Nikolaus Schues of BIMCO say that his company was running two car carriers on Bio Fuels and were currently within the 2030 regulation levels.

The theme sort of continues - I've had to go out - so not aware of the latest thoughts.

However, Bud Dar has stated that the solution isn't a one size fits all situation and that any organization that thinks so is barking up the wrong tree.

He believes that bio fuels have a part to play in decarbonisation.

One other snippet was the chairperson on their group stated the on a survey of shipping companies, 2/3 rds of them would not retrofit to new fuels. Their are around 60,000 ships plieing the oceans at the moment , mainly all using fossil fuels.

Also, Bud Dar stated that Technology is there - just the molecule isn't yet.

In the main it bodes well for QED

Interestingly, in the follow up question , Bud mentions that in MSC's scheme of things, they have set out to trial a number of different options to then evaluate which will give them the best requirement to obtain overall decarbonisation. He mentions using 10 technologies or designs on the 800 ships they run.

These setbacks remind me of the story behind the De Havilland Comet.

What should have been a world leading commercial success was plagued by setbacks which enabled the competitor(s) to catch up and overtake the De Havilland project.

Whilst I can't agree wholeheartedly that a complete set of spare parts would have necessarily been either possible or practical, I do see the point.

I'm getting to the stage of needing to see some devine intervention to see the projects through in an acceptable time frame to keep within a stated projected date.

I also gleaned that as Steve said that there is not sufficient capacity in local refineries to process the amount of heavy oil they will produce.
Consequently, the inference is that the BioMSAR process fits in nicely with their operation .

Sorry if someone else reported the same.
He mentions Marine Services Corporation solely and that there is a 170,000 Bioglycerine fuel trial with them sheduled for next year. He also explains a little bit of how the heaviest part of the oil is best suited too.

It all looks like it's nicely moving forward.
What intrigues me is this 170,000 barrel trial with MSC, coming up next year.

From listening to yesterdays session from 4:55:30, the lady said that the petitioners will have to go through the UIC permitting process which is as she states "and that is going to be a very technical review ".
However, administratively, the matter does not have to be re-referred.
The guy on left, Mr. Maguire did question Tom over the Shell 19 borehole which was plugged in 1964 and returned back to the Bureau of Land Management as a "water source ".
I am sure that these are the sorts of banana skins that they will need to sidestep and I was a little surprised that Mr MaGuire found this quite easily but Tom had not (on the water rights website).
As I see it, in the whole scheme of the project, normal questions things that arise.
I just dont think (may be wrong here!) that the EPA will grant a permit on the authority of the Utah Dept. of Natural Resources approval .

These guys came across very competent under cross questioning plus they have long standing contacts within the Utah Dept. of Natural Resources, which can only be a good thing . They also appear keen to move the project along in a timely matter - If there is to be a minor stumbling block to production over permitting, it will be the very technical interrogation under the granting of the UIC permits.
