Ooh. That'd be nice. Not sure why so many shorters piled in to Greggs, and there are some headwinds. However an extra div has been paid every second year for a while and this would be due soon, so a bumper div is possible although I expect smaller than previous. I can spend any extra on tax!

Shorts still increasing according to the official data, but (as I a sure you know) this is very misleading. Some shorts clearly partially closing or perhaps firms buying long positions elsewhere that effectively net off. They don't want to report shorts closing with a rising price as it will cause a short close rush... Hold folks imho!

Sadly, the UK equity market (mostly ignoring the top 75 companies or so) is manipulated by shorters to a rather crazy extent. Lessons I have learned. Always keep some cash for silly price aberrations. When a stock is attacked, be patient. They seem to sit at a silly low point for a while. Be patient when they start to rise again (hard to do!). Companies with excessive debt are susceptible. It's never been truer than now that patience is the byword. Look at Greggs over recent few months.

I hope the shorters' sphincters are well and truly puckered! Great couple of days and a lot more upside to go. Davys a sensible broker! Made budget day a lot more bearable. I'm still grossly overweight in Greggs (appropriate) but feeling as relaxed as a nicely rested meat slice. Nice that the derampers have toddled off to examine their losses and work out if they should sell more or close their position. Don't care...

Why the BoD isn't buying back shares is a mystery... And actual shorts may be much higher as I don't believe you need to declare a short unless it hits 0.5%. If a company has too much debt then shorters can destroy it (like Woolworths and Debenhams) but Greggs generates enough cash that this shouldn't be an existential problem. Greggs value is a good bet for decent figures imho and the shorters may get badly burned.

When the shorters operate together to drive the price down there's not a lot the BoD can do except deliver solid results, buyback shares and issue a decent dividend. Hopefully they'll do all 3.

Hope you're right. I'm overweight and currently about 9% down so a period of being patient is required!

The shorting is out of proportion but price is now very low. At some point the shorts will need to unwind (can't see Greggs going bust) so just need to wait.

UK stocks of many types being sold down and down. I'm out of ammo now so just have to sit tight and wait for the budget to drive values down even further. House prices falling almost as fast. Time to stop looking...

Idle speculation is rather unwanted. I prefer to see another great opportunity to pick up a bit more, as I did! I'd better visit Greggs soon and buy some tasty provender from a fine British institution. Are there any others left?

Bought a bit more. Rather overweight on this one now, but sold out of Persimmon... What the hell is going on in this poor country?

Rather a crazy day so far. Persimmon have buoyed the market but the sudden rise and then fall was crazy. Luckily for me I was able to sell a chunk at the local top and buy most back at a good deal less. Pays for a tank of petrol or two.

Reckon at least one of the shorters must be bailing out. Sold the hugely overweight portion of Greggs that I got for a bargain and made enough for a weekend away. Thanks. I'll sit on my core holding for now...

Bought some more. This may not be a great company, but it'll always make money... At this price and with the level of shorts it's another game of chicken...

Just had to buy some more again today after selling a chunk the other day. Brits must be stuffing their faces with Greggs Goodies.

Will be interesting to see any new broker notes. Currently the price is well below where most brokers target. Management team needs stabilising and Diageo needs a good plan from there.
