Biden cancelling is disappointing but predictable considering. The PM could count much more but is protecting his own persona one thinks. Sanctions will hurt ourselves too but that may be a price we will have to accept if we are to stand up and be counted.

Liz Truss, who hasn’t got a clue, said the UK will use "every lever at our disposal" to stop Russian President Vladimir Putin. If that is the case why haven’t the government taken the tv channel Russia Today off Air? The channel has broken ofcom guidelines many times. It may be a small token of action, especially as few people watch the channel, but should be done.

Some good positive points made. Yes, cyber threats are taking centre stage with quite a lot of politicians mentioning them. Sentiment will drive this share somewhat, but that appears to be solidly backed-up by substance. Results hopefully will show progression.

P.S I wonder how many stock brokers have heeded government advisory guidelines in preparing for possible attacks? ... looks like it will soon be mandatory for businesses to take certain steps before long.

True, but the ones that get away will increase demand. There’s nothing like ‘closing the stable door after the horse has bolted’ - to wake people up to the dangers.

Now that the UK has announced sanctions against Russia,and Germany has has taken steps to halt the approval process for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. It is highly likely that cyber attacks will increase, and into wider Europe. Tit-for-tat is another escalation - Dark is in an arena where it ought to shine, hows that for an oxymoron!

I agree, the logic is that demand for cyber security should be in the spotlight. However the market rarely acts logically theses days. If there is a crash, I think I might top up too!

No, I’m not out of this entirely, but did reduce my holding substantially at a profit. My holding now is fairly small, but I have been tempted many times to build up again. At the moment my largest holding is ITV and recently I’v acquired Darktrace at what appears to be a bargain basement entry point. Interestingly our friend SW in on the scene, it was good to have a chat with him again. Everything in the world seems a little strange lately, but as usual:

Ultimately the importance of the west standing up to Russia is not in any doubt.
The big drawback is we are the weakest voice in Europe now, and are pretty much subservient to the US. The problem with that is they think they own NATO and sometimes forget it’s a collective (pulled out of Afghanistan, consulting the other members was an afterthought!). Admittedly the US were they key force but it doesn’t excuse closer cooperation in decision making.
As for war being bad for markets that obviously is correct, however, arguably the logic says DT ought to be resilient or even resurgent in any such event.

Tensions have been rising for years. I always find it strange that the poisoning of Sergei Skripal,and his daughter, in 2018 was not just amateurish in the world of assassin circles, but was unnecessarily elaborate. If the boot was on the other foot, James Bond would have just professionally pulled out a pistol. Perhaps the Russians just wanted to give a little reminder of what they could unleash, to a greater scale, if they so wished. Either way it was appalling and a reminder of how reckless the present Russian administration is.

You have to laugh, or else you’d cry, the Russians are claiming to be infallible!!
