Its like splitting your hand on a black jack table but getting the second hand at a cheaper buy in rate.....maybe....I dunno?
Hands up who's had covid? Hands up who's not sure whether they have it or not? keep your hands up if you think you would benefit from being sure whether you had it or not............?
I think I've made my point
Based on the actual epidemiological situation and considering the opinion of experts, from the first departure of the Costa Deliziosa, scheduled for September 6 from Trieste, and to follow on all ships that will return later into operations, the company will perform the antigenic Covid-19 swab tests to all embarking guests.
The test will be carried out within the wider pre-boarding procedures that have been defined according to the protocols of the health authorities and the Costa Safety Protocol. The quick antigenic test will identify any suspicious cases that may be subjected to a PCR test for further check, thus determining the possibility of embarkation.
**appreciate this is a swab test, likely be replaced with a much quicker and more pleasantly administered salvia test, but what reads (obviously to me) is how this is going to become part of everyday life of testing to keep on top of transmission until safe vaccines are globally administered effectively

.....that I was in a queue for a rave in London and security gave me a strip to lick and hold, once I got to the front of the queue I had to present it to the door man with my ID for entry.
It was negative I gained entry and had an amazing night!
I say dream I feel this was more a premonition

Don't worry pal I've seen that Youtube video @doggy found
Jesus wept a thousand tears, how have Sorrento SP gone up that much based on that crock of shiiiiiiiiiiiite
@ophidian
Appreciate the knowledge you put out on the board, I'm certainly learning some valuable info.
I have my own opinion on comparing Sorrento Therapeutics saliva ('spit' as the media have termed it) product but wondered what yours was and where they are in the timeline compared to where avacta sits. They still have to get emergency approval and cost wise look hefty but not sure on other bits. If you have time would like to read what you have to say.

They're setting it up so that they have stated sensitivity comes secondary to accessibility and roll out but...................................with the new Avacta Antigen testing kit you can have both. With the worlds more sensitive and accurate Covid19 test right in your very hands, take the test and in minutes you know whether you're infected with the worlds most recent deadliest pandemic.
Need to isolate......or you can carry on with life you need 'Accurate testing, Accessible Testing.....Avacta Testing. (insert cheesy Picture of a grinning Al)
wrong board,,,,,my bad
Whats peoples thoughts?
Apparently I'm a troll..........???
@merchantbanker,
Thankyou I appreciate your sentiments, she has saved a few lives but regrettably returned back home a few times in tears when they have been lost. I think the nursing industry is under appreciated, underrated and quite frankly underpaid for the dedication and commitment they place for saving peoples lives and risking their own.
She hasn't cracked anything, she's just spoken to me on the phone and told me how her mornings gone, I thought the information could be useful. Your 'wisecrack' comes across as somewhat petulant. Thats ok though I understand these are stressful times and some people cope better than others.
I'm in a few biotech stocks, this being one. I don't believe in the 'mine is better than yours' mentality I'm pretty sure the whole of the health care industry has a big ongoing part to play in this for quite some time. I wouldn't know where to start with a ramp or deramp I had to google it a while back to find out what it was
GL to ALL everyone it doesn't matter what you're in on not in. Also genuinely stay safe x
@timster
She's been at work today and with conversations had the direction is now moving towards testing using antigen method. She's a band 6 nurse. How quickly, how much, the details, I doubt she knows. I want to be clear here I'm not ramping or trolling or anything like that. If I speak to her later in the week I'll ask if she knows anymore but realistically I'm just presenting a conversation I've had white my sister to the BB. I very rarely post anything as you can see in my history.
I've got positions in both :-)
Relaying information is not trolling. You, zesty lemon you
The antibody extraction from plasma is being used to bolster the work towards a robust vaccine too through the mRNA.
I think its fair to say that the world needs several methods to come good in a sense of teamwork, no one company or method will be good enough.
In no way follow me at all, the antibody test will still have a huge role to play without a doubt. If anyone takes financial advice of anyone person on these boards they're in trouble.
I am literally in all honestly conveying information that I have had from my sister who is a nurse and currently working in and around Covdi19.
Its Antigen, retesting over the next few weeks using that method
I got of the phone with my sister after her saying the gov finances are being pushed towards antigen testing from now on.
Would Avacta be able to even keep up with the demand or does the UK/globe need competitors to be successful alongside Avacta to support the testing volume required?
Just asking questions not ramping deramping or even glamping

They will be throwing all the cash at the antigen tests now
My sister and her cohort of colleagues have had their covid19 antibody retests done and results back today. ALL have negative detection of any Covid19 antibodies.
My sister was convinced she had it back in March having many symptoms but was never tested. However, many of the cohort have previously tested positive for Covid19 antibody test and now have no or untraceable level of antibodies in the blood.
What does this mean?
Well it means the initial tests are could be inaccurate. However, this is very very unlikely. Especially with the nurses actually having all of/or most of the symptoms.
What it does show is that the antibodies have returned to a low enough amount that could either mean reinfection is possible (this has already happened in several cases now) or that there is immunity but the antibody level is so low its undetected. Much like the chickenpox virus can be. This also heightens the risk of asymptomatic carriers spreading not just initial infections but secondary ones.
The data and knowledge gleamed from the results of antibody tests are becoming less and less important now. My sister mentioned that now they are starting to put all focus on antigen testing as it’s the only one that will really quickly and accurately help navigate the pandemic.
All this and the potential for accumulating strain variants meaning those that thought the COVID19 “bubble” had ended, regrettably (I say this hand on heart I haven’t seen my 96yr old grandad in almost a year) they are wrong. Testing to highlight, treatment to save lives and eventually a vaccine to protect has never been so important.

As a previous post I mentioned my sister and auntie were professionals in the NHS (nurse and emergency nurse coordinator)
The post was the fact that very low effectiveness of poorly administered nasal/throat Covid19 tests and the fact that unless it’s done by a health professional the test is too complicated and difficult to administer by the average member of the public. Thus, awful reliability.
