Excuse my ignorance, I'm sure that you guys have much more knowledge in matters of investment than I.

I read each posting on here with interest but at the end of the day I accept that my investment is my own risk and that whatever the eventual outcome for me I won't be blaming any 'rampers' or 'de-rampers.'

My question is whether it is within the bounds of LSE rules for anyone, for example on the management team, or even a director of HUM, to post on this board? I can't see anything in the 'Chat rules' to prevent this?

A naive question perhaps, but we don't know what we don't know.

My real concern here is that the all time high will be in the rear view mirror and gold price will be heading down again by the time this shower get their act together.

Still trading then Bushy? 350k buy has just shown up, maybe make a bit of money on that ...... ?

While we all wait for Q3 results and confirmation of whose opinion is proved closest to the actual results, I thought I'd lighten the mood a bit with an English lesson.

It amazes me the number of people, not just on this forum but generally, who continue to use the term "should of" rather than "should have."

It seems that this has become an increasingly commonly used grammatical error in recent years, presumably stemming from the valid abbreviation of "should have" - should,very that sounds very much like the incorrectly used "should of."

There we go, hope everyone finds that helpful. The correct grammar is "should have" or "should've," NOT "should of."

I was of the opinion that DB would hold onto Dugbe as the next HUM project, a massive LOM extension for the overall operation.

However, a good contracting partner with whom the company has mutual trust and ideally a track record would be essential for this to work.

They've fouled their nest with Corica so I can't now see how they could make a project off this size work. A sell off now seems the more likely option to me.

Opening up KEUG was always going to be a risk to this management team, as with any mine. Unfortunately it seems that the poor relationship with Corica has made it even harder for them.

Sadly I can't attend the investor meet later today but I'll be submitting a question about the ongoing relationship and related finance agreements. Corica must be on side if this company is going to progress.

Stating the obvious, but they're clearly not there yet, we need their full commitment to fleet mobilisation, not "poor availability and utilisation."

Indeed. I have no doubt that the board keep their eyes on any opportunities that might be available, but in the absence of any better proposition I think the plan is to get on with it. We'll just have to wait and see, hoping that whatever they choose it enhances shareholder value! 😁

I don't think so Lew. Firstly, Dugbe is where the company started and I can't see DB wanting to let it go. Secondly, he and the BOD are building a multi asset, multi jurisdictional company so why sell this prize? Third, it offers a huge opportunity to extend the company's total LOM.

Lastly, if a sale was made on the basis that it's too big for HUM then with what would it be replaced? Two smaller mines at some multiple, perhaps not quite double the capex and fixed overheads?

No, personally I think the plan is to keep it.

What's frustrating is that the contract was not nailed down right enough when it was being negotiated, to such an extent that contractual disputes could be avoided, or not clearly and easily resolved

Even the best management team can't always be expected to deal with unforeseen problems like the weather and fuel depot explosions.

You would think however that issues that should be entirely within the control of management such as contractual terms and obligations would be tied down well before now!

Contractual disputes are certainly more of a concern for me. Let's hope it gets resolved soon and Corica get back to work soon.

Thanks for sharing this Goliath, a good presentation. I'm pleased to see DB marketing the company, which suggests that he is feeling less in need of keeping quite such a close eye on day to day operations as Kouroussa is now at nameplate capacity.

Hopefully his trust in operational management is well placed.

It seems that DBs attention is now increasingly going to shift not only to debt reduction and strengthening the balance sheet but also towards how and when Dugbe can be brought into production.

Thanks on target, that was a useful interview. DB looked much more relaxed and it's great that he's raising the company profile on Cape Town.

I was also interested to hear that projected ore input from Yan underground mine is 50% by 2025.

@ Guvvi @ Dragons13, agreed, the presentation was dire, very little there that could not be gleaned from reading the RNS. They also ignored both my questions regarding the split of production at Yan between underground and open pit, secondly about costs of site safety and protection

Let's not forget that DB, and probably his team, have more invested here than just their money. As has been mentioned, the Betts family has been in the game for a long time so he's got family reputation at stake.

DB's vision of Single Mine Origin and excellent ESG credentials, fully compliant with the WGC Responsible Gold Mining Principles is hopefully going to set us apart in the long term, actually giving back to Africa and helping the local communities with their long term prospects.

Of course I'm here to make money, that is my primary objective, but if we're talking about belief, I'm bought into this vision and way of operating too.

If rather be invested here for that reason and am holding on to the fact that the company's real value will be recognised in due course. Without DB at the helm and working towards those goals, aren't we just another mining company taking more than we give?
