When it comes to drug development, people expect the scientists to agree on a mode of action and provide plenty of empirical controlled evidence. Compare this with our resident chartists talking about technical analysis. They don’t agree about why it works and the only supporting evidence amounts to “it works because we say it does”. I agree people should develop a disciplined approach to investment, but they should also look for credible evidence it works. iMO DYOR GLA

Good posts rookie and agneis. And yes - things can change quickly here. As stated previously, if you missed the small number of outsized positive days over the last year then your returns would be cut to the bone. That is the risk of trading in and out. Momentum TA likely works until it doesn’t (at which point it doesn’t work very badly). The majority of scientific and empirical studies of TA that I have seen find little predictive value in it. Msuk - I genuinely respect your search for a disciplined process. But there is little objective and scientific evidence TA works. Surely that concerns you? My own approach is based on behavioural theory, much of which has been proven to work. Valuation and fundamentals matter, as does patience. It isn’t perfect - I didn’t buy all my IMM at 1.3p and sell it all at 18p - but I suspect chasing that by frequent trading is a mugs game. Best of luck with your TA, but I suspect the benefits are largely illusory, which is sort of what the scientific research suggests… IMO DYOR GLA

Who was in control on 26th August, after the shares had successively dropped for 4/5 months and sat at 1.5p? Yet within 3 weeks of that date, the shares had rallied 1000%+… The trouble with trading in and out of a stock like this that the positive days are fewer - but far more aggressively positive - than the down days. The shares are up c400% ytd, but i suspect if you had missed that handful of aggressive positive days while “trading” - your return would be stripped to the bone. So there’s a simple lesson - if you like the fundamentals and believe in the long term story, be patient and hold on. Sort of like Buffett suggests. No one knew that the news was coming in early September, and no one knows when the news will arrive now. IMO DYOR GLA

The shares have gone from 9p to 6p, msuk. But on two prior occasions where you called the shares down at 9p, they in fact jumped to 12p. It is quite easy to win when all you do is mark your own scorecard. IMO DYOR GLA

I agree, mardler. The RNS statements contain a good level of information about the company’s position… And anyone interested in my view on the stock only has to read back over my posts. I’m pretty clear about my view, unlike some here. GLA DYOR IMO

I agree wildbunch and mardler. There is a great chance that we get further partnerships and the assets progress. And the current lowly market cap is not reflective of that risk/reward. IMO DYOR GLA

Thank you nolupus. But YOU are the great trader and investor here (even though you never actually commit to a view, let alone get it right). Let’s treat ourselves again to the great fruits of your indecision - “There are two sides to every coin!” and “Eyes to the stars but feet on the ground!” And “What will be will be!”.. It could go up… But it could go down… We are not worthy of such wisdom, oh great oracle… 😂😂😂

Nolupus - I have simply made my view known over the last 18 months, and got it largely correct. Given that you spent much of 2024 trying to contradict the positive points made by myself, wildbunch, goldgirl, cauldstream and others - I am simply pointing out that your “balanced” and “different” posts have been largely counterproductive. IMM is not a lifestyle company. It has valuable asset and management are working toward realising their value.. And I’m quite sure the whole market would have been compared to a casino in 2002, 2008, 2020 etc. They were great times to buy… IMO DYOR GLA

LOL. I don’t get your point at all, nolupus, and I wont be alone. Buffett has frequently bought very high risk investments in areas considered below “top grade”. So your point that it is “only top grade” for him is incorrect and misleading. IMO DYOR GLA

Ps.. And you’ll find that many of Buffett’s investments were not considered “top grade” at the time of his purchase. It’s precisely his ability to identify superior fundamentals early - and buy at an attractive price - that has driven his exceptional returns. GLA

Well of course, nolupus, buying at the right price and the right time is key. As explained to you throughout 2024, I multiplied my position here because at a sub £10m valuation the risk/reward looked attractive. Yet you and lollywally would repeatedly counter the positive points, made not only by me but also by wildbunch, goldgirl, and several others. The people who lost out between 2018 and 2024 could have made their money back many times over by purchasing last year, but perhaps many were influenced by you. “Two sides to every coin” - a silly and meaningless sentence - IMM is not a coin and investment is all about making correct decisions under conditions of uncertainty. That requires judgement and patience, not reliance on unproven approaches like TA… IMO DYOR GLA

The danger with TA is that it always sounds so convincing. But there is no meaningful empirical evidence it works. If there was - I

would use it! And in response to msuk’s points - several posters have reported making hundreds of percent profit in IMM over the last 18 months by simply being patient, and who have no interest in TA whatsoever. It is fine to wait and buy on good news if you are trading a very small quantity of stock, but the chances of getting a meaningful amount at an attractive price on such days is low. I suspect this is especially true of IMM, where a large number of interested people are already watching (daily) from the sidelines. This is why great investors like Buffett emphasise fundamental analysis and patience, over short term trading. IMO DYOR GLA
