Even a JV with technical entities where you are basic admitting "we could do with some help here", would need a demonstration that it's worth anyones' time, trouble and money. I was hoping the "competent persons report" of the assets at Heron would be enough to tempt people in, but it would appear we do need more than that.

Adw - Fair point ref available cash. We are told that H2 and Gazelle are low-cost potential wins, so my thinking was that if these were successful and we were therefore generating more cash than at present then there might be enough left in the coffers for the more expensive H3. Of course if not, then yes, the Gobi angle might be the only one left on the table, but 10% c.o.s concerns me. I guess it'll be interesting to see not only how successful H2 and Gazelle are in terms of cash generation, but also what effect this has on the SP/ overall market sentiment. Lots of other bits in mix too - resolving the issues with PC and finding out whether a JV is going to happen, Sunsteppe, unknown curveballs (positive or negative) etc.

Abzzba - I see from the Shore Capital Research Note that they have Gobi chance of success at 10%. I am of the opinion that we now need RELENTLESS good news for the rest of this year as a minimum, in order to re-build shareholder confidence. To this end, I'm wondering whether it would be better to drill H3 before looking at Gobi (obviously making sure the location of this is as nailed-on successful as possible). If we can get H2 up and running through the acidisation, possibly improve H1 flow rates too and have a successful Gazelle (not sure on the estimated c.o.s of this), plus a flowing H3 then I think the market may just be able to tolerate an unsuccessful Gobi.

Interested in your (and others) thoughts. 10% cos for Gobi may of course be overly pessimistic, but as you've alluded to in your 09:53 post it always pays to look at a worst case and have a contingency.
