Most of my defence down today, again! Seems to be bouncing around until the war is sorted, I am confident with Melrose and BAE the space race will add to their values, and then RR SMR's. I cannot believe this won't break through 500 this week which it seemed to early then right back down, a blue end to the day would be very welcome. Trump needs to come back to Iran asap!

I can’t see a known trend dominating. It’s priced in usually but these are strange times. This is already discounted from the highs by being conservative on their guidance then further discounted due to the war. None of which is being reflected in their results which are solid and progressing nicely.

Good update folks. This is a company now turning a corner. Steady and calm. Positioned for growth.

Let’s see the reaction but nothing not to like and a bargain at these prices.

I am pretty sure the price is reflecting worse case. It’s dropped so much since the highs of 660 so a further drop based on an outlook of what we know hopefully won’t happen ie. The war pushes up input prices that’s not news anymore.

If we can show progress and keep to the guidance a positive reaction has to be on the cards.

Current price is based on a company with supply chain issues which may be the case still however with savings from the aerospace market needed they will sweat the assets and that’s high margin for us on old engines so hoping that’s the case.

I won’t be selling or buying but holding until we hit 650 by Dec.

Surprised it’s gone back to this level but markets move quickly both ways so holding and adding if I can.

I had sold a chunk at a loss and now have bought them back again so like Carrington happy at this price to load up, there is no way the trading update will be bad. This is all down to Iran and cannot believe Trump will continue the blockade long, he will relinquish this soon saying "we have removed the blockade as Iran are now playing nicely"........once this is done they will come back to the table and something will be agreed.

Strait of Hormuz still open to all except 'Iran's enemies', official claims after Trump ultimatum

Iran has once again insisted that the vital Strait of Hormuz waterway remains open to all shipping - except for vessels linked to "Iran's enemies".

Ali Mousavi, the Iranian representative to the UN's International Maritime Organisation (IMO), added that passage through the narrow waterway was possible by coordinating security and safety arrangements with Tehran.

It comes after Donald Trump gave Iran 48 hours to "FULLY REOPEN" the Strait (see our 23:49 post).

Mousavi also claimed Tehran is ready to cooperate with the IMO on protecting shipping, according to Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency.

"Diplomacy remains Iran's priority", Mousavi added. "However, a complete cessation of aggression as well as mutual trust and confidence are more important."

Trump will need to swallow his pride and negotiate instead of bullying now to get this sorted. His usual tactic of threats are not going to work when the other side have nothing to lose.

Some good news feeding though now. Seems progress of sorts to enable a partial re-opening. Japan also negotiating a safe route through so may see some green shoots.

Fellow investors it’s been a bad few weeks for all.

On many stocks I have been chasing down to reduce losses and only lost more money. Lots of people have done the same and some have cut their losses but fundamentals of Rolls and other FTSE stocks are strong. The rebound will happen so as much as it hurts its short term in 6 months we will be discussing something else as the world adapts.

Things can bounce quickly and we cannot time the market perfectly. In hindsight it’s better to stay put and not get emotional as hard as it may be.

Keep positive and enjoy the sunshine.

This is overselling on fear not fundamentals, so nothing we can do, chasing this down will be a disaster, as Carrington says lets close our eyes and hope a bounce comes soon.

This should pick up tomorrow being ex div Thursday so anyone wanting a bargain should fill their boots.

This year will be >£6 but the question is now when and how quick. I would have said by April or early May but now may be a bit longer. Who knows Trump makes it up as he goes so it’s like tossing a coin.

Before long new Tariffs will be discussed to pay for his war and back to square one.

I think macro factors are too strong currently and chasing this down has meant I am in a big hole as well.

Oil up again this morning and the war is proving too unpredictable to be certain of a bounce. Fingers crossed we don’t fall below the 5’s again.

This is bargain now. Surely will bottom out at some point.

If the issue is planes not buying new engines then I believe that’s better for Melrose as the maintenance on the old craft is higher margin. Therefore not like RR this May benefit Melrose.

I agree I am shocked as well. The swing today was unexpected and disproportionate.

The good news is the divi yield has gone up and it’s 19th ex div so will attract a few buyers at this price.

Futures are moving up now some positive rhetoric regarding the release of oil reserves and confidence it will reduce oil prices to consumers.

Means we have ~25 days of war left. If it goes on after this that the time to reassess.
