Difference between bp and shell indicates just how different the sentiment is between bp who announced a move to net zero last year and Shell who will announce theirs shortly... All this means is when recovery happens bp stock will be overbought, driving the price higher... shouldn't change your personal sell points though... ignore the difference and wait for economies to open back up.... good news from BoE on interest rates.... good news from BoE on projection for UK economy... hold and average down... bored of me saying this yet?

awwwwwwwwwwwwww Someone bought in too high now doesnt want to average down! this is a perfect buy in opportunity with the price of oil where its at... bad days are behind us... its just a matter of time

Just keep topping up on the dips... this is really a no brainer and doesn't need technical analysis.... I have buys in at 251, 244, 238... nothing technical behind them other than it will bring my average down to less than 249... if i buy in or not isn't the point... I'll be up by summer anyway...

If I wasnt buying a house I'd be whacking 50k into this stock - upside is clear save for a disastrous turn of events

Some of the people on here no nothing about business... everyone quoting a potential takeover based on SP... this was 20% cheaper last year and no takeover bid occurred... why would an oil major now acquire it... this share comfortably sits at +£3 market sentiment is just negative at the moment due to lockdowns... stop chasing the quick buck in an income stock... go play in the AIM... hold and top up every 10-12p dip... printing money here.

Those media reports of large losses are what creates buying opportunities like today!!! - they should be rewarded (just not with my cash)

Now I know what people feel like on black Friday... managed to lower my avg. from 275 to 258 in a single day... normally wouldn't chase investments... but seems a bit of a no brainer with the oil price where it is... belt up kids..

Posted this morning that I'll leave this until lockdown is released.. but opportunity to average down to low 260's is far too appealing for me... god bless the yanks for helping me to print money

Tacet - I'll be trading this stock to average down only... relevant stock alerts to stock up and 2 sell points which will enable a >20% return, expect to hit this in the summer as we copy the trend out of lockdown we saw last year were we hit 365

Just added 10k GBP @ 258 to average down to 266... you wont see me here again as I'll forget about this holding until lockdown restrictions are lifted in UK and Germany... confidence in market and consistently strong oil price will drive this.. good luck to all... and to those that sold today many thanks for driving the price down...

it wont but more pain to come in 1Q also with the lockdowns... i traded up from 253 - 309 and made an absolute mint due to large holding... same again please.. 310+ by the summer as like last year...

Fundamentals of results in line with expectations.... dont look at headline figures the business is fundamentally strong and getting stronger... when volumes start occuring we'll be in the money and this tuesday will be a distant memory... I've traded this stock between 250-330 for the past six months... strong range to buy in

Just averaged down to 276 - holding >5k now... still a little high for my liking but held some cash back incase of a drop tomorrow... stay in the bp lane and you'll be rewarded in 2/3 months time... market prices in 6m in advance... vaccine good news... increasing oil price.. que cera

that is a high average considering past year SP... however I'd consider doubling down at current levels.. getting to 280/285 average SP is still a solid position..

People seem to miss bp are deleveraging their balance sheet and reducing their break even massively with a massive re-org, yes they are spending on new projects but R&D budgets are coming down to reflect the higher mix of renewables... this can only be a buy given the amount of travel the world will see once vaccines are dispersed over the next 6m, SP will move before results come out to reflect this as its sentiment based

I'm in again at sub 270... lower my avg. price and will be a superb hold for this time next year... dividend collection upto then should offset any losses... we'll look back at this price in a years time and be like why didn't I bet the house

330 is a personal exit as I have a large position built up which I'll continue to add to on the dips... agree with the market sentiment but that can only last so long as results start to turn positive as lockdowns are lifted... we have a tricky reporting period and Q1 results to get through but after that hype will build around Q2 results mid Q2 and sentiment should turn positive...

Not really - only a 5% uplift as my stake was <1k.. cost me £50 which i've already 5x'd on Novavax... told you there is more money to make quicker elsewhere

330 imo is a price in which the market senses an uplift and return to normality... think we could easily see this as lockdowns lift in Europe = 2/3 months time.... it won't be a quick earner but this is an income stock after all. One thing is for sure we wont see prices at this level for a while with the vaccines being rolled out, only an mutation in which we cannot solve for threatens this SP

As I say plan your entry point.. sit back.. and wait for the world to slowly open back up
