Barclays (LSE: BARC.L - news) has reported a 10% dip in profits for the first nine months of the year but said it has been a year of "delivery" so far Brexit and trade war pressures.

The bank - the first of the major UK lenders to report its progress up to September - said profit before tax came in at £3.1bn.

The figure was knocked by £2.1bn in costs and charges - the majority linked to its £1.4bn settlement with US authorities early this year relating to the mis-selling of mortgage-backed securities ahead of the financial crisis.
