Nature's solution?17 Mar 2020 07:09
The one good spin-off of this whole sorry mess is the significant downturn in harmful emissions from vehicles and aircraft. The downturn in the former is hard to measure, apart from noticing that the roads in my locality are noticeably quieter, but for the latter at present there are about 7,500 in the air compared with the usual 10/11,000 (in very round figures) which would normally start rising rapidly as the holiday seasons approach.
In addition any closure of industrial plant eg the European car industry, will add to the "bonus" if that is how it could be considered.
A prime example of all the above is the pics of a Chinese city on a normal day, shrouded in pollution and, under shutdown, almost completely clear.
A savage demonstration, if one was needed, of how we are poisoning the Planet but with equally savage economic consequences- a no win situation it seems.
