Skills and previous experience required:
Essential:
? Educated to MSc or PhD level in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field
? A high level of lab-based competency in molecular biology, manipulating DNA and creating
expression constructs.
? Excellent aseptic technique and microbiology techniques
JOB DESCRIPTION
? A minimum of 5 years’ laboratory experience of working in the fields of molecular biology
protein engineering
? A good understanding of characterising protein-protein interactions using a variety of
assays (e.g. ELISA, cell-based assays, Biacore/Octet etc.)
? Experience of recombinant E.coli expression systems, protein purification and
characterisation (SDS-PAGE, Western blot etc.)
? Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex data
? Organised with an ability to work well under pressure and to challenging timelines
Desirable:
Experience of some of the following areas would be an advantage:
? Library design and construction experience (phage, yeast, ribosome or others)
? Experience of various in vitro display selection strategies
? Experience of working in the field of drug discovery in an industrial setting
? Antibody or scaffold protein engineering
? Mammalian cell culture
