RE: Rare earth restrictions delayed by one year26 Oct 2025 19:28
Esduk,
I see it the same way, whatever arrangement is agreed to now on rare earths is to give the US more time to develop its own value chain. US, Europe and others have woken up to the fact that they cannot outsource manufacturing of key products needed in technology, defense, health care (and others) to 3rd countries who will always put their needs first when times of need arise, with another clear example being breathing masks during covid.
On rare earths this is a one way highway for each major economic block to develop their own supply chain and ensure that private enterprise has the necessary motivation to produce what is needed. MKA will no doubt play its role in this, especially when it comes to recycling were it has leading know how.
A US-China deal on rare earths is not a negative or brake on growth for rare earths outside china, but rather a miuch needed headroom to start achieving what is needed. We can be sure the US will take maximum advantage of this headroom and move forward all guns blazing. EU may have also recieevd enough of a jolt to finally wake up!
I am expecting a good week for stock markets, including rare earths driven by US earnings beats, lower US rates and positive development in US-China trade
