Greg Jackson, founder of Octopus Energy, made an important point in his post on X yesterday, which is worth spreading.

To add some relevant context:

£100m spent curtailing wind on just 6 days alone in February in the UK means approx. 580,000 MWh of wasted wind energy. This equates to approx. 10.4m kg of green hydrogen worth more than £100m.

In 2024, a staggering 6,600,000 MWh of wind power were curtailed in the UK. Just imagine how much green hydrogen we could have produced… e.g. to power the industry or for export.

By the way, the £100m alone spent during these 6 days in February could have bought 22 ITM Power NEPTUNE V electrolysers, with a total capacity of 110 MW of annual green hydrogen production.

We know why SP dropped on Friday now, Qube increased their short position another 0.06% to total 0.70%. I assume their average is around 32p. When there is no news, they continue to pressure SP easily. Look at today, volume is so thin again.

While the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) is still below 5% on the ARD poll, it is now above the threshold in the other poll, by ZDF.

If confirmed, that would substantially complicate the government forming process, potentially forcing CDU/CSU into a three-way coalition with the SPD and the Greens.

We may want Grüne in the coalition for the sake of Hydrogen path. It looks like CDU and SDP will have coalition together unless FDP gets more then 5% (exit polls says 4.9%) which that case they will need Green Party.

Saying that, I don't expect any change of plan regarding Hydrogen.
