RE: Thousands of Brits flouting Govt advice18 May 2021 08:20
Dont think it is disrespect per say, when you think about the many who flocked to the local UK holiday destinations and the ones who took their own or their pets exercise, after driving 10,20,30,100 miles from home?
Or indeed those that went for a run or a cycle ride (in groups) for 10,20,30, miles, none are LOCAL exercise? All are then guilty of not showing respect?
Then there are those who HAD to go to work, because of the industry they worked in, hospital staff, (some moved from Hospital to Hospital) because they were told to?
Lorry drivers, van drivers, couriers, train drivers, coach drivers? and especially those that had to deliver/drive into the EU, and travel on a crowded shuttle or ferry?
Then air line staff, pilots, baggage handlers etc. If your Co asked you to work, rather than furlough, how many said yes, for fear of loosing job? How many had no choice???
The list is endless of those having to travel/work for one reason or another? And lets not forget about all the celebs, who carried on regardless, partying dining (was in the newspapers daily) trouble is a 10k fine to them, is like a 100 fine to the person in the street?
Then the thousands of small businesses who had to work if not (locked down) to survive, the pubs that did takeaway food, You had to travel to collect it? The queuing in supermarket car parks to get in, became the new pub garden for many???
There are so many loopholes in a lock down, it never had a chance and human nature is to group together, not be a lone wolf? I have no idea what would have been the right way to deal with it, but, if prepared to take tests, wear masks and be careful, surely it is an individuals choice as to decide, and not be attacked on here, for there choice?
For the record, I had (and continue) to work, without a break or holiday, other than weekends, since original lock down, I have been careful, cautious and sensible and imo (LUCKIER than some), to have survived to date, but I dont feel anger or bitter, to those that flout / ignore the laws and advice I just wish the Gov would make it financially impossible for any to cheat ie make the fine commensurate with the income, and shut borders completely, IF only for one whole month to cause a proper "Firebreak" in any variant that is out there?
However, that of course would cause a supply chain problem though, with food medicine and manufacturing etc? No easy solution and not sure any Gov could have handled it better, although the greed in handing of contracts is something else... Humans eh, the new locust!
all in my own opinion, not looking for conflict, just how I see it ???
