LTI, I got sucked in by Lloyd's calling it 'excess capitol'. It isn't excess capitol its profit that could be returned to shareholders.
Wasn't the total dividend 4bn & the buy back 1.75BN? If that is the case Lloyd's could have been much much braver with the normal dividend, instead of raising it by 5% they could have increased it by 15 - 20% and still had enough to buyback shares to cover bonus payments for the next couple of years.
Lloyd's have chosen to pursue a buyback programme in the wake of a 20Bn provision for PPI that could also have gone to shareholders, it's not Cricket m8! & too darn hots just lost.

What does he do all day besides dreaming up ways of making himself better off at the expense of shareholders? Its not like he's got any strategic objectives to achieve other than closing branches & shaggin birds?

If shareholders want buybacks buyback more shares from a full dividend and let those share holders who don't, spend their full dividend how they want.
I'm not surprised no fookers buying these shares they're a disaster, first PPI now a buyback scam which ostracises all but the longest term holders. Lloyd's are a joke, how fandango can pay himself exactly what he wants and effectively manipulate the share price by withholding full dividend payments until he's ready to offload his holding, is criminal. Personally I'd like to see no issuing of new shares to cover bonuses (another con) & a full dividend returned to shareholders.
