President Miles is receiving enormous amounts of praise for his achievements in 18 months. As reported in the Times today “The result of this shock therapy has been a stunning recovery. Milei has brought monthly inflation down from 13 per cent to under 3 per cent. The economy is now growing at 8 per cent. Investors no longer shun Argentine bonds and stocks. After a brief upward jump, the poverty rate has fallen from 42 per cent when he was elected to 35 per cent…”

I feel happier now, regarding the political situation with Argentina, than I have in the 17 years I have held RKH, and hopefully so will potential investors and banks.

It was a poor time to sell shares. I’d love to hear why, bearing in mind her experience of companies and the possible effects. Of course it’s her business, but a reasonable person may offer an explanation for such a sensitive action, or not.

Not always true 99. I bought a car on a Friday and negotiated a great deal. Less than 24 hours later an escaped terrorist (who I detained) smashed into me and the car was a write-off. I was honest about the price paid but the insurance company insisted on paying me £1000 more, which they said was the, “true market value”.

In attempting to strategise for the future, with regards to what proportion of my holdings to sell, and what to retain long term for income, (for the care home fees :-) ) I would be grateful if anyone has any experience and ideas/thoughts regarding the potential annual dividends we may get from Rock and the timing, if all goes to plan. Interesting article in the Times re BP today. Aggressive activist New York Hedge fund Elliott is reported to have taken a stake in BP and the shares have jumped 7%.

Analysts speculating that Elliotts will agitate for a switch away from investment in renewables and an increased spending on oil and gas to maintain or even increase production.

Allen Good, director of equity research at Morningstar financial services, said the most likely option for Elliott to pursue at BP was for “some sort of strategic change that refocused on oil and minimised low carbon as Shell has done”.

Over the next couple of years, RKH could be in the perfect position to become the prime target for BP, who have fallen behind other oil majors, in seeking to increase their assets in oil and gas.

Thank you for your flattery Nigel. I expect that now you have completed your study and identified this serious threat, you will react to it, protect your investment and sell. Or, will you remain invested, continue to pontificate on how we are all doomed, and expect other investors to nurse you. “Don’t worry, it will be alright Nige. It’s the bloody burglars you need to be scared of!”

Nigel, with all due respect you sound like you have a vested interest in wishing to encourage despondency, despair and a lower share price. I personally believe that what you are suggesting is a non-starter. The Falklands are self governing. The UK govt knows that allowing judicial interference into independent decisions, made by the FI govt, will open a door to Argentina. This would be absolute political suicide for Starmer. So it won’t happen.

Don’t think so. Any judicial interference would completely undermine the UK Govt position, that they have been shouting from the rooftops, namely that the Falkland Islands are self-governing. They can’t have it both ways. It’s not pick and mix.
