Often, once a small cap drops into tiny micro-cap status, it can become forgotten and unloved for years. Fund managers, analysts, even private investors, move on. That's a worry for me here.

Lombard Odier increased their holding marginally yesterday.

VLG not escaping this week's market jitters - down almost 20% from recent highs.

Thank you for keeping the pot simmering on this board ragnar. I'm also looking fwd to receiving news. It's another recent IPO which hasn't entirely worked out, share price-wise, but I remain hopeful of good trading performance, which will reveal the attractive valuation. Bit worried about effects of a tight labour market.

P.S. And I honestly don't think the press talk up or talk down companies on a random basis.

I just remember the recent share price decline, lol, I forgot it's still above the flotation price, so quite right to remind me.

You originally referred to the press in general, not Alastair Osbourne in particular, and you should know Darktrace has had more than it's fair share of bad press in general, especially relating to the company's beginnings.

I remain of the view that it's meaningless comparing press opinions of companies in such disparate industries. I mean this Alastair Osbourne fellow may simply take a more bullish view of the growth potential of cyber security and that has coloured his opinion of Darktrace, completely normal and no more to read into it than that.

Not to say that the press haven't been hard on THG, they sure have, but the comparison to Darktrace is fatuous and betrays the beleaguered siege mentality of so many THG holders. Yes, both are recent IPOs with newsworthy corporate governance stories, which is why people are tempted to compare them, but the temptation should be resisted, they have nothing else in common.

Anyway, it's wasn't just about your comment, there was also a fellow suggesting Poppy Gustafsson would make a better CEO (of THG)...

People comparing THG with Darktrace (of all companies), saying ridiculous things like they wish THG was run by Darktrace's management, or they wish the press treated THG's results in the same sympathetic way they treat Darktrace's. Please don't make me laugh! I mean, Darktrace is no exemplar of good corporate governance - just google Darktrace management's links to tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and his various fraud case(s). The press has been giving them a hard time for months. As for the ability of Darktrace's management, well, judging from the share price performance that's proficiency we could do without! The complete rubbish that's put out there!

Bad scene today. Must be mad, but I've added on the price weakness. With this share it's a total punt, I freely admit.

Quite agree jcb208 - I'm very far from writing it off, I only bought in at 190p! Old fordm has though. Don't want to speak for him, but I think he's reached the totally angry and frustrated stage.

Post inspired by fordm' comment that he would never sell THG at a loss, he'd rather see it go bust.
This is loss aversion - an unwillingness to crystalise losses under almost any circumstances - and it's an accepted behavioural impediment to good investing and (generally) a losing strategy. However underwater you may be with a stock, the *only* question you should ask yourself at any point in time is 'would I buy this share now?'. If the answer isn't 'yes', you should probably consider selling. Very, very hard to do - loss-aversion is a powerful emotion and I'm constantly fighting my own.
I do make an exception for shares that have been such dogs they've moved out of the loss-aversion pile and into the written-off pile. Once written-off, I 'never' sell them, nor add to them. And you never know what may happen over the following years - I've had a share which had reached an 80% loss (never sold, never averaged down) which I'd mentally written-off, come back to break-even now and I'm still holding believing I'll be moving into profit soon (I3Energy plc). That one I will sell one day!!

I hear you, but frankly I would regard it as a token purchase.

Let's not get too excited by the director purchase - 15K shares isn't very significant, especially when set against her existing holding of 1.1m shares.

TR1. Institutional investors snapped up 5% today. The unremitting decline in the share price reversed on a sixpence this afternoon. Tomorrow's results day - let's see what it brings.
