bigones, I hope you made some money on Ultra Petroleum. You definitely learned to trade a stock and take your profits and not be a bag holder.
There is no shame in taking a profit. I bought into Ultra Petroleum at $2 and sold at $7. Bought Into Falcon Oil at $0.75 and sold at $7.00.
Ultra Petroleum had a false start and ran to $10 then dropped to $1 before it exploded to $100. And that's where we are with Falcon Oil. A false start followed by a collapse concluding with an explosion. The final price will be based on drilling results.
Successful results will allow Philip to reduce the percentage of the play for an additional free carry to drill additional wells and increase the value of the play . He will sell the play off at a price that is best for shareholders.
Perth65,
That is an excellent point. At that point Falcon Oil has many options to continue on into production. As Philip mentioned 5+ years ago Falcon can reduce its percentage from 30% to 25% of the play for an additional free carry. So don't get to crazy that Philip is going to give away 500TCF of Gas and 50 Billion Barrels of oil for $3.
Why would he sell off the company at $2.50 next year when we have Stage 3 at a free carry ending Dec 2020.. Sure at US15.00 he sells it off next year but this play has many years to run. I see CDN$0.45 in 2019, CDN$0.65 after completion of phase 3 then a potential sell off for CDN$5.00 in 2021 or move in to production by reducing the company holdings to 25% with a free carry. Time will tell.
Ultra Petroleum was successful on 82 of their 83 initial wells. The share price moved from a low of US$1.00 to a high of US$100.00. Philip has done the best he can with Falcon Oil under the circumstances and he will continue to deliver during the good times. Best of luck to all!

500 TCF of Gas! Sassy!
Nigel is in a FOG. Yes! Yes! Yes! Philip is making plans and you can fill in the rest...May 6 should be an annual high if the chart gods are correct.

Thanks Philip for getting the joke and sharing a laugh. It's not every day that people get it. As a shareholder of FOG, you have to have heart and watch out for the barracuda. Hey, I am all in!

When I look at his performance over the past 7 years it's a solid D-. The stock has held its own for the past 7 years. With inflation we are off 50%. To say we will hit $3 in a few years then I would give management a solid F-. This is what management looks like without the rose coloured glasses.

Potentially recoverable Resources were estimated for five intervals; three in the unconventional shale for the Upper Kyalla, the Lower Kyalla (partitioned into oil and gas windows), and Middle Velkerri formations(also partitioned into the oil and gas window) and two with BCGA potential in the Moroak and Bessie Creek sandstone in the Beetaloo Basin: Kyalla Upper Oil Kyalla Lower Oil Velkerri Middle Oil Kyalla Lower Gas Velkerri Middle Gas Moroak Sandstone Gas Bessie Creek Sandstone Gas http://www.falconoilandgas.com/uploads/pdf/RPS_Report_January_2013.pdf
There is even a line about a conventional play in the Moroak from 1717-2060 with the upper 88 meters indicating high permeability. http://www.searchanddiscovery.com/documents/2011/10295silverman/ndx_silverman.pdf

China is looking to import significantly more amounts of gas to bridge to renewable energy. The US appears to be too expensive. Here's a look at the numbers. Australia currently makes up 25% of China's LNG imports and which are significantly cheaper than the US. China is building pipelines in Australia. I wonder if Sinopec would like to buyout FOG shareholders for a dollar a share. lol If my memory is correct, the top Chinese player dropped US$64 billion in the Canadian Oil market less than 10 years ago. From experience, Sinopec and Nexen are wonderful to work for but me thinks they will be paying closer to US$15. https://www.americanprogress.org/issues/security/reports/2018/04/18/449807/not-fall-hype-u-s-china-natural-gas-trade/
Marc Bruner discussed this play as 100 TFC of gas and up to 50 billion barrels of oil, the size of Kuwait. Let's see of POQ can get us $2.00 a share after 10 years.lol That may mean our investment just barely beats the rate of inflation.. In 2005, when Falcon went public at $0.30/share it took less than a year to hit $7.65. I was fortunate enough to get in at $0.75 and sold everything at $7.00 within 4 months. See the 3 minute mark when Bruner talks about the potential size of this resource. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iW2X7dG8jQA&t=234s
