I disagree with you there A1ex, I think there is something more enticing about knowing it is live, knowing that thousands of others are tuning in to view it at the same time, collectively enjoying a virtual experience. I would suggest that this shouldn't be overlooked and that proper Live events should be marketed differently from pre-records.
There's a reason that Jools Holland is shown twice in the same week, the Tuesday being a live show and the Friday being a pre-recorded version of the same show (for those that aren't aware, it's the same performers but with additional performances, recorded on the Tuesday afternoon, before the live broadcast). From being in the room from a backstage perspective, there is definitely more buzz around the artists for the Live show and (subjectively) brings on a better performance.
