I wouldn't wish job losses on anyone but I'd imagine a £50K top of the range Microtox unit with reagent costs would pay for itself by not having to employ sample takers, lab technicians etc.

Dave bud, it was RNS'd on MWG earlier today. If you don't follow them you wouldn't know that. It's great for us also but their glory as their entry was submitted before our AI involvement. Next year nobody will bother entering the comp as MWG's tech will be 500% better because of us lol.

Officials in Tokyo have begun testing sewage in an effort to detect signs of a spike in coronavirus infections.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has teamed up with Japan Society on Water Environment for the survey.

Untreated sewage samples are being collected from 15 treatment plants once a week. They will be frozen and analyzed to measure the viral content. The samples will continue to be collected until the state of emergency is lifted.

The officials still have to develop a method to test the samples for the virus. They say it could become a way to quickly warn the public that another surge of infection is expected.

Similar studies using sewage are also under way in the United States and France.
