Nope it's French. I'll copy and paste it,
These are the projects of Goulamina and Bougouni which could make our country one of the largest producers of white metal in Africa. If the Malian state was able to withstand the shock caused by the crisis of 2012, to ensure its sovereign missions, it is because the crisis had spared the gold sector. Neuralgic area which made it possible to revive the country like a patient kept alive thanks to an artificial respirator. Nothing surprising. Gold represents just under 70% of the country's export earnings. The revenues earned on the yellow metal are worth 30% of budgetary revenues, or a little more than 400 billion CFA francs in 2019. They are in the order of 7 to 8% of the gross domestic product (GDP).
In view of the importance of the sector in the national economy, our country is increasing the initiatives for the diversification of mineral resources, in order not only to face more pressing needs in terms of development, but also to be much more resilient in the face of certain economic situations with incalculable consequences for the populations.
The efforts made to this end are starting to show results.
Indeed, Mali is preparing to become one of the world's largest lithium producers. “In terms of lithium mining, the continent is almost virgin. Zimbabwe, however, is the exception with the Bikita mine. But by the diversity of the projects, the quality and the importance of the resources, it is the DRC and Mali which come at the head of the biggest potential African producers of lithium ”, analyzed the Ecofin Agency.
Third gold producer on the continent after South Africa and Ghana, Mali has two major projects (Goulamina and Bougouni) for the exploitation of lithium, essential for the manufacture of batteries, electric cars, etc. No exploitation is currently in progress.
The infrastructure (factories and others) must be installed before the mines start production. But the advances are real.
109 MILLION TONNES- The Goulamina project, acquired in 2016, is managed by Mali Lithium Limited, a gold explorer active in Mali.
