Government just published a review of 4 antibody tests from Abbot, Diasora, Roche and Siemens. Only Siemens reached the MHRA standard. None reached our standard: 98.6% and 100%. Still best in class.

Will be watching the Chancellor of the Exchequer in 45 minutes. It will be interesting if he says something about the £5 billion test and trace investment. It hasn't been flagged up in the pre-budget coverage but they often have a couple of surprises. If they are trailing sums of £3 billion for green investment it seems strange not to announce it. It's a major investment.

The conclusion of the Spanish study is that we should be aiming to contain the spread, not expect herd immunity. So what? How does that undermine the value of a gold standard antibody test? The test used in May (looks like Chinese tests) did not offer 100% accuracy as claimed which is also part of the evidence base. So that in itself is a fundamental flaw with the assumption that antibodies can't be detected. We already know that you need up to 7 days for antibodies to develop. We have also been told that the relationship with t cells may also have a bearing on immunity and another big study is underway to assess that further. A verified, highly accurate antibody test will be a key part of every country's test and trace strategy whatever the outcome since antibodies are a defined element of our immune response.

Yeah I will. We should all write to the FCA. Complacency means they get away with it. If they get fined they might stop doing it.

They showed an antibody test and discussed the pros of knowing whether you had it or not. Professor John Bell was quoted on the new consideration of T cells and their relationship with antibodies. The PHE study was mentioned as likely to give us more certainty on these issues- especially how long does immunity last so that we have clarity over the purpose of antibody tests. Thanks for the Cornhill example MB.I think the reason the firm was censured will be very conducive for a complaint. There is an assumption that they are working in the shareholders and the company interest. Wanting to make a quick profit out of nothing is nothing to do with showing integrity to their role. I notice that Finnbar's sp has increased nearly 10% today and yesterday.

Proprietary trading is not exempt. How is this market making activity? It's cool MB I'm sure it's all v complex. I am tempted to raise it anyway because it looks and feels entirely corrupt to me as a retail investor.

Oh yeah I do know about forward selling. Not technically the same as shorting but agreed, same impact. Still worth reporting. The FCA are meant to be looking at the cowboy brokers on Aim. They need to separate roles as mms and brokers as has been noted.

Look at the market as a whole. Every indices is down. Horrible forecasts on growth and unemployment. I am not at all surprised that the Times can't read a scientific research paper. It's hardly been distilled for the lay person yet.
There's nothing bad in that report for us. Bad news for humanity is that only 5% of the Spanish have had it so confirms what other reports have said which is that these are very early days in the pandemic.
And it seems like no-one has noticed they covered the story on antibody tests on Newsnight last night?

Mb, how do you know they have got a short on? They aren't on the short tracker? We should report the broker if they are shorting their own share?

The poc antibody tests (not ours anyway) picked up more cv19 cases, over 91%, recognising antibodies, than the other immunology test. Some people were asymptomatic. It doesn't say the poc tests didn't pick up asymptomatic cases. It's saying the fairly high prevalence of asymptomatic cases means that we can't take our foot off the pedal with public health responses.
This is a sad coincidence of misinformation alongside the placing. Though if Rishi Sunak mentions the £5billion PHE fund for testing tomorrow( which is actually happening according to the Guardian) this will end up being quite a good buying opportunity. Lol.

I wonder if this will get a mention in Wednesday's budget statement? Crossing fingers it will. Boris mentioned £5 billion for building and people seem to need a bit more encouragement to get back to life so...

Regulator, we're all going by peer reviewed clinical evidence. No-one can say categorically that antibodies for this virus will last for a very long time but neither can they say they won't. The disease hasn't been around long, that's why we can't be defenite. Scientists think that it will give some level of immunity because every other simila virus creates antibodies in survivors which can give immunity for anything from 3 months (common cold) to 1-2 years plus (SARs and MERs). Some people who got the Spanish flu are thought to have lifelong immunity. We are still learning about it.

£5 billion to underpin our whole testing strategy for the next two years. £5 billion. ODX have 5 tests. The RTC antibody POC could be the blockbuster but we are going to be producing an antigen POC, and several lab tests including an antibody lab test with Mologic. The UK market looks more secure in terms of the scale of the government intention and the two year timeline is surely de-risking again. Once those contracts start going out whoever wins them is going to attract some serious investors. I am already doing better than my own pension fund this year. I can't see that we won't get the antibody poc contract. I hope the broker stops being a knob when we start winning big.

I don't think they shorted it. Would be too many players engaged in illegal behaviour- someone would have to take the short. More likely they've just walked the price down asap knowing that the institutional investors would be selling at anything over 40p. A lot of firms have no cash and are more interested in their own company than their investments at this point. I think it will go up once we get sufficient volume. Very f***g annoying though.

I'm flabbergasted that that would be a reason to 'buy as many as we can '. Why would we trust them to manage an orderly market when this dodgy **** has ended?

Not to mention the absolute absence of professional integrity, shorting a share for which you are the broker. Who would go near a share with Finnbar as the broker ever again?

They are required to declare a short so if they have done this they certainly haven't declared it so they are breaking the law. Aren't they?
