Manual soldering has disadvantage in solder quality variations, scaling up and labor costs.

Since electronics are already made on smt equipment, the assembly costs on customer site will be close to zero.

Hopefully they managed some ip in the smd products, that would be another gamechanger.....

To give an impression, hand soldering will take about 10 seconds, this means one person can achieve 360 cap-xx supercaps per hour...

A ASM siplace SX2 SMT PNP can achieve roughly 30000 bulky parts per hour and 60000 smaller parts... a factor 100 in potential sales ??????

Claretjay, SMD are materials which can be easily mounted my means of a SMT line.... it is actually using a pnp equipment to pick a device from a reel and place it automatically in solder paste and cure it later on in a reflow furnace. Typical products have a size which can be picked and have solder feet. The biggest problem is mostly the reflow temperature which the component must withstand... hmmmm... looks like I’m familiar with this ??

I do not think that Cap-XX mgt has really a choice. They can’t allow others to simply steal their IP and earn money. This is money which should flow to Cap-XX.

Additionally, the fact that Maxwel is defending themselves so much, it means we are talking about big money...there must be a bigger future plan.

I vote against a buy out in case it will come reality...too much more to gain.

The big 5 are coming and with serious volumes. Tesla will become a nice brand for the happy few. But then they need to make a real step in quality.
