When you are burning cash like ODX are......money coming in is certainly a sight for sore eyes.

NCYT had cash reserves around £100m last year and due to their cash burn and lack of being able to generate money it is being depleted at an alarming rate. Plus they are in dispute with the government as well.

Clarity where ODX are with the government chasing them for money would be good. Good news and this SP will pop a little no doubt. Bad news and ......well I won't say it as I think we know what would happen.

I accept ODX has received a payment.....not disputing that. How much......what is the figure of the payment. That is what I am asking and commenting on.......why the actual amount was not released.

It seems to assume everyone knows what this figure is.

Yes I read it thinking it was going to disclose the actual figure but it never did. Like I have said before, it's what they don't tell you sometimes that is more pertinent than what they do tell you.

It will be interesting to see the breakdown of their financials in their next yearly / half yearly statement.

Watch the spread with one this folks.....what seems like a nice bounce is in reality just the spread widening. The sell price is what to keep a close eye on and it's hardly moving.

Yes this is consistent to what I said. There is a reason people are contacting them about this though Kate.....and it is not because they are in a strong position, it's because they are wobbling. Shareholders do not ask this question to companies that they are invested in that are doing well and are actually generating profit......which is the whole purpose of a company if I am not mistaken.

I say they are desperate. The share price says they are at rock bottom to where they have ever been before. Their activity smacks of desperation as they would not have to do all of this if they could simply generate money.

You say they are not desperate which goes against the evidence I can see but I would expect you to say that as a share holder. Time will tell if they are good enough to make this pigs ear of an outfit into a silk purse.

Yes it's a safety net.

A safety net that other companies may have but don't need to mention to their shareholders as much as ODX do. The reason for that is because ODX are wobbling and it wants to assure it's shareholders that there is a safety net there should it be required.

It is negative and something that companies who generate money never need to have, or if they do have this provision, never need to mention like ODX do.

but what we both agree on is that the next set of financials may well answer a few unanswered questions and give some needed clarity to the situation.

What I do know about business Kate is when you come to sell something......because it is of value and you want to sell it....you may get a good price for it.

when you come to sell something......because you are desperate and you need to sell it to survive............you may have to sell it on the cheap.

and that's how business works.

My commentary is about the company and how they have their backs to the wall and are struggling for cash....hence the fireside sales, the need to have overdraft facilities, the need to sell their site and relocate......and probably job losses which we haven't discussed. The cash burn is a concern hence why they are always trying to raise finances and this is all because they are a company that cannot generate money after being around for years and years.

That's what companies are supposed to do.....generate profit! This one cannot.

Kate, I assume you are trying to point out that like UK shares, US shares can fall too.

I am trading the indices (Russell 2000) and go long and short so I want the markets to go both ways and also the volatility is welcome. The advantage with the indices is they cannot go bust like an individual company can so less risk, plus I always cash out at the end of the trading day.
