Waffle baffles beginners , that man was fluent.

If silver can break and hold $33.50 on an end of week close we could finally see some nice moves ,$38 would be the next target in the 1-3month timeframe. Unfortunately we’ve been at these gates to the promised lands many times in the past 4-5years and failed to really hold $35 for any time . Famous last words I know , but this time does feel different , people are looking for safe havens and whilst gold is the natural metal most run too many are waking up to how cheap silver and platinum are on a historical basis.

I first bought in here @168p then added again near 300p back in 21 ( I think ) since then I’ve averaged down several times but only just crept back into profit , it’s been a long road but today looks like my / out investments could really shine in the not to distant future.

Probably worth keeping a close eye on Bitcoin today from 1:30pm onwards and more specifically the US based miners .

Trumps team yesterday announced the creation of a sovereign wealth fund , more information will come out today with energy and infrastructure at the heart of it , with Bitcoin miners balancing the grid ,news should be positive .

Should be interesting and big moves possible in either direction depending on what’s said , a dramatic sell off due to lack of news would see me topping up as hard as I can into the US miners . DYOR .

I’d be 99% sure OF was referring to Rick Rule , Rick will be fully aware of GMET as he has a position in POW .

If you are looking for something simple to Equals you could do worse than running the slide rule over Finseta , they also operate in the fintech space and are growing rapidly, sp has appreciated from circa 5p to a recent high north of 40p , it’s come off a little recently ( back to 33p) but still appears to be moving in the right direction.

For clarity I was in at around 14p and bought in again around 6.75p so I’m nicely in profit but I continue to hold .

In last week’s post I suggested Howard Lutnick would be made treasury secretary, he’s in fact been appointed commerce secretary so pretty close , I also said Gary gensler’s time was up @ the sec , this was confirmed midweek.

The significance of both shouldn’t be underestimated as Trumps team is now crypto positive to the extent nearly all his appointees hold Btc !

The cup n handle has played out nicely slightly overshooting the $98k short term handle target , from what I can see we now have a sell wall of around 2500 bitcoin between $99,500 &$100k which has so far held , my best guess is these are institutional sellers front running what they perceive as $100k resistance. MY GUESS is we’ll smash through on Sunday night when Asian markets open as I don’t think retail can break through alone . The question is once $100k is breached where do we go ? My expectations is a violent $10k move , i slightly favor to the up as that’s the pain move ( bitcoin loves to cause max pain ) many were waiting a pullback to $57k-63k I’m reasonably confident that’s not happening for 12months + , another reason to believe the move will be up is the $2.5bn in liquidations between $99,800 &$102,500 which will essentially cause a short squeeze.

Looking forward it would appear Trump is planning a crypto council to promote the industry in the USA . We have also seen the launch of ETF bitcoin options which brings in a huge walk of money.

Don’t forget to use the halving tracker to guild you through the inevitable sharp corrections on the way up.

All in all the outlook is still bullish .

As a footnote the crypto related stocks seemed to have completed there back tests on Friday with some putting in nice gains , so far they have underperformed, that can change quickly.

Personally I can’t see why the board are even entertaining the offer , from what we know the company is still growing nicely has a healthy balance sheet and there’s plenty more market to capture. 135p +2p seems extremely cheap .

I’ll be voting against this proposal as I see far greater value in the medium term , very much aware my 15k share vote will hold no sway but at least I’ll register my dissatisfaction.

Is it too much to hope for a white knight to come in at this late stage and give the board something to really think about?

Bitcoin

I strongly believed this cycle was going to be a left translated, this now looks invalidated- no problem it’s far more important to stay on the right side of a trade than be correct with forecasts .

So if we look at the current state of play , we’ve had a strong move since trump was elected, but remember Bitcoin has moved in almost exactly the same way in each previous halving cycle, in fact the average return for the final quarter after a halving suggests this move has plenty further to go .

A few catalysts which could help fuel the rise .

Trump appointing the new treasury secretary , smart money seems to be on Howard Lutnick who has a large personal holding of btc and built Cantor Fitzgerald into a giant of US finance .

The sacking or resignation of Gary Gensler at the SEC , possibly replacing by pro Crypto HESTER PIERCE who already sits on the SEC .

Both of the above could happen in the next few days .

9th-10th Dec the bitcoin conference in Abu where there’s rumors a sovereign wealth fund or possibly a state will announce it’s been buying bitcoin.

20th Jan - Trump takes over as president, and while it’s unlikely he’ll make any specific Bitcoin announcements it’s a reasonable bet he’ll signal intention by freeing Ross Ulbricht

and ending capital gains on crypto within the first month.

I forecast bitcoin would end the year at $88k way back in the spring, I think I’ve probably undercooked that a little, cup n handle suggests $98k as a near term target, what I will say if some of the near term catalysts play out as expected it should be an orange Christmas and new year .

As a note of caution there can always be black swans , Trump is no certainty to take office given previous attempts on him .

For those looking for the most accurate and independent way to see where we are and going I fully recommend you study the halving tracker.

Don’t forget a bitcoin bull doesn’t run in a straight line , many are shaking out buy 20% -30% pullbacks, follow the halving tracker and it will guide you through difficult days .

Fleecy you make a reasonable point , however don’t forget that many who place shorts use leverage to maximise the position. So therefore It’s probably not possible to calculate how many actual shares are held in short positions because they could be 2x , 5x,10x, 100x leveraged that said the extreme end of those leverages tend to be the tools used by amateur day traders who invariably get blown up and margin called on relatively small moves in the underlying asset. We see this a lot in Bitcoin and alts what starts off as a small move cascades down because ppl are ridiculously leveraged .

Walk away ffs , 135p is not enhancing shareholder value. I’d be confident we’d be above that offer price in the next 6months if the board were allowed to solely concentrate on running the business to maximum efficiency.

What’s happened to QBT’s x/twitter account, no posts for months now ?

For what it’s worth I will certainly reject 135p should that be the offer . The management are doing a fantastic job , especially with the distractions of a potential takeover in the background. I won’t even entertain an offer below 160p .

Whilst I’ve been very supportive of the board’s brilliant stewardship of our company I would now urge them to walk away from negotiations, the sp. Would have been above the offer price already should the focus have been on results and progress rather than the low ball off the wider market seems to be focused on . As others have pointed out it’s been nearly 12months of speculation and disruption, time to walk away and continue building independently imo .

It would appear FG is the master of vague/ opaque. He could very easily put investors at ease by announcing how many Bitcoin(sats) have been mined during live testing , or how much has been mined with the hardware bought for miner one .

By simply updating the market on revenue generated by live testing , no matter how small, it would go someways to easing investors fears .

FG has been claiming QBT have been starting to mine crypto since 2017/18 and as of yet no revenue has been attributed to such ventures, but plenty company money allocated.

Investors should really be putting pressure on the board to come clean on revenue generated , as it stands the only real saving grace is the monies owed from the Italian court ruling and even that isn’t guaranteed to reach QBT.

In the meantime FG continues to get paid well for his stewardship and his consulting work at quantum, he needs to show some results or step down .

For the brave , let the waters clear before dipping your toes back in , catching a falling knife is never wise especially when you can’t see the whole picture.

Wow -BOJ reverses rate hiking policy saying they won’t raise rates while markets are unstable. A capitulation from Japan sending markets higher overnight , FTSE should open stronger .

Certainly good and very unexpected news short term but a word of caution, the reverse repo has all but been drained ,simplified meaning liquidity is drying up .

My base case has now changed, with the news from Japan that’s probably stabilized markets to an extent although I’m expecting some volatility both ways as traders remain on high alert, we can now take an emergency FED rate cut in August off the table and pencil in a .50% cut in September, how the market reacts to that is the question will it view it as a panic move or will it be seen as enough to stimulate the US economy? I’m not going to try second guessing the market at this point , I’m waiting for the US to start injecting liquidity back into markets which should be extremely positive for commodities.

Short term cash is king , I got stopped out on FTSE and Nasdaq shorts overnight having been substantially up around midnight I woke @ 5am having taken a 1.5% loss on each trade as my stops were triggered, disappointing but that’s why stops are there.

Remember no matter how convincing ppl sound, they’re only best guessing the market short term , things can change very quickly in both directions. Time spent teaching yourself to put as many pieces in the jigsaw at very least gives you an edge over a very large proportion of retail investors ( most are punters ) .

It should be a blue start on the FTSE (50-80points up ) Ideally that will hold but I wouldn’t be surprised to see that gain sold into especially around lunchtime as traders get nervous about the US opening.

With the Japanese carry trade unwinding it’s an ideal excuse for the FED to announce an emergency rate cut in August which you’d imagine would ignite a bounce in markets , but the bigger picture is this rate cut has been needed for 12months to stop America sliding into recession. Personally I believe it’s too late now , a rate cut will only serve to sucker dip buys in and provide the liquidity to allow the big money to sell out .

Keeping a cash pile to take advantage of market lows is probably the wise choice , along with researching market history. This set up is almost a mirror image of 2007 when the market dipped then bounced to ATH before crashing.

I could very well be wrong but in these market conditions it’s better to be cautious and wrong to the upside than than brave and wrong to the downside.

The vix has spiked this morning , so expect a blood bath this morning. , it’s looking like the Fed are happy to see the markets plunge in order to strengthen the dollar… dollar milkshake theory looks like it will play out perfectly.

If you watch bitcoins price it gets slammed day after day at the same time , that’s Jane street igniting selling, very similar pattern to how gold n silver used to drop for no apparent reason.

Don’t be surprised if unrest spreads throughout Europe and America, the authorities will be only to happy to have folks minds elsewhere as the markets crash , conspiracy theory maybe but you have to say governments aren’t expecting moving quickly to calm ppls fears .

Anyway use the tools available to protect your investments, there are ways to profit from a sliding market and widespread sell off .
