Oh Dear ! Following the earlier calamitous decision to increase Employer's NI, the Labour Govt now extends the existing benefits bonanza. The Govt deficit is apparently to continue for the next 2 years at a cool £100,000,000,000 p.a. which equates to £1,500 per man, woman and child, or £6,000 p.a. for a Family of 4. Its madness.

And no mention of promising new avenues of science ?

Hello EE. I remember the days when Tony Benn, (Viscount Stansgate), was Labour's Minister for Industries taking closer interest in Companies than Govts since. Yet Starmer is aware of Scancell's 'cutting edge' and Reeves made some comment recently, so let's hope something comes of it . . . . 'twould be good if they could get something right!!

Not holding my breath on that one but we'll see. I do feel Scancell is 'on the cusp'.

Interestingly it's noted that the event is "funded by UK Government" - what this might mean exactly in the light of the Chancellor's recent comment, who knows ? However, obviously it's busy days for Team Scancell !

Regarding, "the UK seems incapable of supporting home grown innovation", yes historically that's unfortunately true, but I'd just add that the Chancellor in her recent pre-Budget speech specifically mentioned Biotech as one of two Industries key to UK 'growth' in the future. However let's see what transpires . . . . .

A cancer-free future eh ? That WOULD be nice. Just to observe, that's a mighty claim, which if it transpires would change the World dramatically. Generally, IMO, Scancell haven't been noted for ill-founded hype.
