Grand Challenge10 Sep 2019 00:24
Has anyone else received this from CRUK ? Jolly nice of them to think of me but I'm not sure I'm very well qualified to help . . . .
''Dear (Torquay Fan), This summer we’ve been asking for your ideas to help shape the next round of Grand Challenge. Our second challenge-setting workshop gets under way in Milan today with our partners Fondazione AIRC per la Ricerca sul Cancro. We will explore themes including prevention, tumour and host biology and therapeutic approaches. In July, our workshop in Madrid with Fundación Científica de la Asociación Española Contra el Cáncer unearthed some exciting potential challenges, including:
Explain how the cancer connectome defines resistance to treatment
Understand how to prevent metastatic colonisation of tumour cells to combat cancer spread
Map the role of common cancer drivers in normal biology to uncover how to target them in the disease setting
We were also pleased to be joined by Queen Letizia of Spain, FC AECC’s Honorary President.
Our Grand Challenge Advisory Panel, chaired by Sir Paul Nurse, will consider the outputs from these workshops, along with challenge ideas submitted online from our wider community.
We’ll reveal the final Grand Challenges in February 2020 – get ready to apply.''
Moving on, I wonder if discussions continue with other Members of last year's entry ?
