This is not looking good for gold as we come up to inflation news. if it goes down after 30 seconds you know where the futures chart gaps are.

Technically this is not good for the gold chart.

AAZ quite often predicts what may happen to gold later on. USA Inflation data due in an hour. USA has a gap in the gold chart 1993-2003. AAZ is suggesting the gap gets filled. AAZ is often the first precious metal miner to retreat. Whoever sells here has a lot of foresight on what may hold later today. We shall soon find out if the seller has got it right again.

Some news will come along and the probability of backfilling by Friday is high. Sometimes it happens asap and occasionally it is a few days later. The news is likely to be pro USD.

Had to take my wife into hospital and just got back with problem solved. Yours truly on cooking,nursing and slave butler duties for a few days at least.

My rationale for gold is that we have a large gap in the charts between $1989 and 2003. Gaps in the gold chart always get back filled if those gaps are with USA market. We are getting closer to May and I have lost count of the times it has been a bad month for gold. I will still hold Shanta and HOC for different reasons. Centamin is very promising for Q3 and Q4.

ISA retained, trading account sold off. Expecting pull back when USA opens. Positions in Centamin and AAZ to be taken in the summer. Holding on other miners. Wish all luck. For trading accounts CGT limit is £6,000 in UK for 2023/24.

I only commented directly on energy yesterday with SP. Most of my inputs are for everybody to read. I use the filter button when an individual is getting repetitive. If someone keeps making the same message over and over again it leads to the saying empty cans make a lot of noise.

What is wise is having a diversified portfolio and not overweight on stocks yet to generate revenue. Always have cash in your portfolio for opportunities to be used correctly. Always maximise capital Gains tax allowance on gains using the maximum limits available and to use it as an asset on any monetised losses in non-ISA trading accounts that you need to record in tax filings every year until used up. If you putting yourself in a stressed position in how you are managing your portfolio then it is something to rebalance and resolve. Never borrow funds or bet the house on any equity position. Everyone makes an investment loss from time to time and its how your portfolio recovers that identifies the resilience and risks taken within it. Equally a large gain should not elevate your risk behaviour.

I assume anything given to the strategic evaluation team is fully stress tested on NdPr prices sold per tonne and all the factors going into production into low, medium and high risk factors that all have financial impacts on the financing models that pertain with them. The Pensana team have done it for other projects. We only see what Pensana is happy for the Chinese Government to view which has been a disadvantage for all of us throughout this entire process. The Chinese Government is doing its utmost in delivering SMM low NdPr prices as they threaten to dump against western production sources to reduce industrial competitiveness in many areas as well as the defence capability of other nations. A lot of agreements need to be binding and the EU, UK, USA, Japan, Australia and others all need to be true to their word both governments and industry. This risk makes everything else look less serious.

SP one issue that you mentioned was handled very well by Pensana is energy usage. The energy supply to the Saltend facility is via two sources that do not use carbon fossil fuels. The mining facility in Angola has hydropower from nearby rivers. Both sources are in abundance most of the time and energy running costs are unlikely to be a major cost pressure issue.

What percentage chance of success here is just based on hope? I define hope as the kind of investment that we may do on a day out at the race track either dogs or horses where the pleasure is many with friends you are with and any winner getting a round of drinks in.

The latest retreat is probably to do with all of the tech stocks pulling back and Nanoco caught in the backwash of what is a really poor market. Some companies need money and are about to go to the wall. If central bankers want a recession and pretend it is not here it will prove to be the same idiocy as transitory inflation in 2021. Nanoco will be identified as a safe company to park equity money and breakaway from tech company valuations that have nothing in the bank and a PE valuation many multiples of where it should be. Very soon the tide is going out and we see all the companies that are naked.

Each day the gold place remains high pays off more debt and increases enterprise value. It also allows the possibility of Tanzania to deliver some more VAT relief on past monies owed and hopefully Shanta is making some progress on that.

If the gold price is to stay where it is now, then Centamin should move to around 115p. Each day the average gold price sold is approaching $1900 per ounce annual average where as a few weeks ago it was around $1865.
