you can often tell the quality of a company by its board comments

there are some boards out there (and we have all seen them) where there is an unofficial moderator or 2 that seems to want to control everything while often trading it in the background

Trouble is nesty there is no blue sky short term catalyst that can light the blue touch paper here, its just a very slow grind to improve production, unlike most other commods shares that are awaiting news on this and that.

in most of those other commods we would welcome the stability of namibia, love the set up here but just nothing really to propel the SP, whch means myself and many others probably bought in too high

tim going to 40-50k would change the above statement but can maybe see nearer 40k but even that is a stretch

Have never left SLP stoodio, they are too well run for that, but turned off my portfolio when labour got in, lower cap gains thresholds etc, did reduce SLP but have never not made money off SLP (different story at THS however....)

i'm now going back in again to various things having put my head into the sand a bit.

however we do have a looming set of financial crises coming up which are inevitable but luckily none of my investments are uk focused, thank god.

the great commods run has just started, we all know what happens when the it all goes off (instant sell off of everything), but thereafter it should be golden for commods (except maybe oil, usually the big loser) but as for the rest the value will shine (gold, silver, plat, palladium, tin etc....)

personally hope they are unsuccessful, have seen too many good companies get bought up very cheap

Would personally like to see the best 2 gold prospects advanced as soon as possible, fully trusting bernards skills as a geologist, although you could argue there is no real hurry with the clear vdirection gold is going in, but want the sp propelled

based on metals prices and my calcs i have 18m usd but sounds a little too high and far fetched, so hopefully others might have something similar or disagree which is also fine. this is purely operating profit not group level profit

i'm basing it on historical cost figures which are prob on the low side

Nesty, i was only really starting the obvious and agree with you about valuing pits, and this is aim so that happens. However we were once valued on our potential and for us and other aim miners once the reality sets in its a different story, just how do you get decent capital to get the stuff to mkt

the good news is that many many aim and tsx miners are screaming buys right now, and a number of catalysts that will really propel things. i wouldnt say ATM are on my buy list as just not enough obvious cash flow to make it jump. maybe an extra deal would maybe do it

with the UIS el;ection coming up, BRICS torpedoing the dollar in October will do it for other miners, i just find it far easier to invest in gold and silver and maybe platinum when the cash flow is really there and already mining / up and running.

think ATM are a few years behind this yet.

the minerals have never been in question for the resource, its just the mechanism to getting them out that is concerning in terms of sp movement, the cash flow is small and development therefore will be at a slow pace.

so either 1 of 2 things will happen for us, either we wait a very long time for the snowball to gather pace (exponential curve as AV puts it) which is ok if people are patient. as most are prob under water like me we have no choice. The SQM deal is a good start and maybe the way fwd for all the seperate properties.

option 2 is the obvious buy out, as we are land rich and cash poor, this would solve all issues and it is screaming out for a major with cash to offer something around 10p (i know you will all say that is massively undervalued)

but ALL juniors have this dilemma, you find the resource but have no capital to mine it efficiently, why the majors always win

Reasonably pleased with the SQM deal, nice big partner and AV has finally done something quite useful.

Looking at the brandberg results, not sure how long the vein runs for but isnt particularly wide, HOWEVER, the copper grades are really good and really quite shallow. Not so interested in the tin grades as we have quite a lot of that anyway.

maybe just maybe ATM is looking up, but as many have said on here this is a long term play

Not going to comment on the license issue others will do that, but in terms of a buyout you could apply that to any LSE (but AIUM especially) company, they are almost all undervalued compared to peers globally

i can only assume people were expecting a the resource update today, in todays 5 min society they bailed like its been cancelled or something, quite bizarre really, like leaving a casino having just lost on 22 coming in whereas your number 8 with quite a few chips on it is 2 spins away.

Of course this is a classic AIM reaction, couple of weeks normally is barely RNS'able (if that is a word), there are delays all over the place in mining, in grand scheme of things it is nothing whatsoever. has the equipment fallen over the side, has the ship sunk, has it been recalled ? NO to all. and a brief stop off for huminatarian aid (much as i hate charities) is not exactly a bad thing, and resource update which is probably a bit complex to work out is coming soon.

Well he has a slight stutter i think which is not his fault, wont blame anything on that as i used to have one myself, but where he needs to pull his socks up is on this deal making or otherwise he is just a very well paid promoter and not sure we need that. i dont think he has a full geology background or an engineering background, so he is an entrepreneur with extensive contacts etc etc

so deal making is supposed to be his thing

Nothing he really does regarding interviews and the strategic process ever makes sense to me. we wont go over the eye watering deal again though would have been slightly funny if he had mentioned it again, and of course any good interviewer would have recalled that famous line as a question, but these things arnt like that.

i dont understand why he does so many interviews, there isnt much news, and i could understand it if there was a capital raise about to happen but that hopefully is unlikely.

surely the best advert is news and the share price, you can only beat a dead horse with old news once or twice.

i think he also said somewhere that they are conservative in their planning and quick in the execution. well, you can only be as quick as the engineering allows, so another rather pointless comment, but they are definately correct in the conservative part.

Would love to know where you get that fair value from. I know almost all commods miners get < fair value, unless you get an absolute premium for the royalty gold companies or a ceo that has massive previous success like ross beatty etc, but a 90% discount ?

its all very well doing paper calcs but results reality wont be that near, they rarely are.

if you listen to almost any resource commentator and the very first thing they look for is management, have they built successful mines before and have they sold a few companies for 2,3,10 x ?

second comes in at the the resource quality and then jurisdiction

we tick 2 out of 3 boxes, we have a great resource and Namibia is just great.

there is one big thing lacking and thats why we are < 4p
