Set any share gains off against losses in the same year, and report the net loss within the timeframe. Then carry forward indefinitely. If the net position is a gain and it’s under the annual allowance can ignore it, unless the total gross disposals are over £5Ok in any year then need reporting on tax return anyway. Bit of a bind for frequent traders but just need to keep good records and work the CGT calculations properly.
