Anyone who has had a small punt might carefully take into account the email referring to a move to a more streamlined operating model. The rest is waffle. Of the operating model itself needs migrating to a new one then things are really serious. Expect the worst, liquidity is poor here and further impairments affecting forward cash-flows are particularly bad news.

Get out while you can.

Worth a punt as long as it’s mainly around intangible impairments. Problem is net current assets are weak so if these are forward cash flow exposures then this could quickly go sour. Anyway worth a go but don’t bet the ranch!

Marvellous day here, last evening it was up the funicular to Montecatini Alto. British Army field gun there, of course a memorial to the partnership we had with the Partisans.

Florence was perfectly fine, we had skip the queue to the second floor of the Uffezi. Actually Leonardo was an awful painter, shockingly bad. Don’t become an investor like that…

I actually didn’t speak to the project managers and therefore have a more balanced view. Pisa is better throughout the city rather than the hawkers and leaning tower etc. Lucca was quite lovely, 4.5km around the city walls and then extraordinary fish/shellfish broth. And the amazing Bologna sausage with cheese and lashings of Trivento. Perfect day but we’re both zonked and it’s Florence tomorrow.

Montecatini, just arrived in time for dinner! Lunch in good weather in Bologna. Didn’t get any chance to but fortunately. Even after much Pinot Blanca it certainly didn’t feel like a dip. Hope you’ve all sold! Prego.

I bought this strange Murano glass cat for next to no euro. One of my children has just adopted this cat, ten years old. Also a scarf that should like PFC be €100 per share. But guess what? It was only €10! Would be great to post pictures here, but hey.

In Venice was really bad. Don’t normally go for a tour but the hour and a bit in the morning was actually ok and only at the end did it start pouring. Spent the afternoon in a fine restaurant next to the Rialto Bridge. Then escaped back to the hotel. Not a great start to this “Grand Tour”.

Off to Bologna tomorrow, not too early. Some Americans in the group but hey.
