The interesting and frustrating thing for me is, despite posters saying it's 'a 12 t0 18 month' play, or 'it's Exxon', or some kind of buy out or 'it's sooner than people think', we just don't know. I guess it's part of the fun and buzz we want when we decide to invest in COPL type companies. It can drive us mad if we let it. We do know they are in negotiations and I am really impatient to find out what will come out. We will know when we will know. It could be next week or next month. Lets hope the deal gets done and it's a good one for us all.
I kind of agree wookie. People have got over excited in my view. From Jiddy's post things look as though we are closing in on some kind of a deal. We don't know that for sure and we certainly don't know any details (not even the potential partner). I can understand the feelings of anticipation people have after such a long and often tortuous wait. The fat lady is not yet singing but she might be warming up her vocal chords. Fingers crossed.
There is absolutely no point in engaging with the trolls. No matter how convincing our case is, they will simply carry on with their dross. Responding to them simply clogs up the board and it has the effect of discouraging proper constructive discourse. Filter them please.
None of us should read and believe anything that is written here. There are some excellent posters who have a good amount of knowledge and have done their research and have given us the benefit of their opinions. Each one of us should do our own thorough research and make an investment decision accordingly. 95% of the stuff written on these bulletin boards is dross, childish and a waste of space. The remaining 5% is of great value and, in my opinion, worth reading. We are all strangers (well mostly) and we all need to tread carefully. It doesn't take long to work out who are the trolls or timewasters. I have filtered so many posters here that I see more green boxes than anything else. The comments left are balanced and they help me to clarify what is going on here and fwiw Sub, Tiburn is someone whose posts I value.
wwal17, I agree. I am not stupid but I guess Iam not a 'sophisticated' investor. Bonds, warrants and other 'financial instruments' that so called sophisticated investors use just pass me by. Lets see the production updates, whilst we wait (not very patiently perhaps), for the RBL and maybe a decent JV. Then let's see where we are. At the moment this is a bit of a hard watch.
Art is HOPING to conclude RBL and JV by the end of the month. I imagine these are complex negotiations so we might not get these things conclude until Nov or maybe even Dec. Folks insisting things being done by Oct 31st simply gives the trolls fuel to further bash the company (and Art). I am sure Art will get decent deals in the fullness of time but we are just going to have to be patient.
My recollections are that he said he would try, or he hopes to conclude things by the end of this month. This for me, means if everything goes to plan he could achieve this. Unfortunately, with AM things do seem to come out of left field to scupper plans. I am sure we will get to where we all want to be, but it may well not be this month.
I know what you are saying. It wasn't all that long ago when I put my name down for the £5 per share party on the south coast only to have everything dashed on the strength of one RNS. Thinking I would bank 150k I had 30 grand go out of the window just like that. Excuse my caution I just don't want that to happen again.
If Art gets a JV would that not preclude us needing a RBL? If he gets a RBL would that not strengthen his negotiation hand with a potential partner? Why would he need both? It seems to me Art is in a very strong position to get favourable terms however this is cut.
We really need to keep our feet firmly on the ground. Predicting £1 by Christmas is, in my view, just as bad as the trolls predicting our demise. Things are beginning to look very encouraging but we have no idea what's around the corner. What genuine investor would have predicted 12pps in August. (I know one of the trolls did but........) There are real issues to solve and hurdles to jump over in the short and medium term. We need to get these out of the way first before we can even think of some of the high valuations predicted. I speak from bitter experience as I have been in similar situations before with other shares.
I said I would not look in for another couple of weeks. No willpower. Antha (and others), why do you always think that filtering the trolls means we only want to hear one side of the debate. The whole point of excluding/filtering them is so that a truly balanced debate can be had. In that way the concerns can be discussed in a civilised manner without all the rubbish that never adds anything at all except anger and frustration. I am sure I am like many on here who are just ordinary folk, without the time or expertise or desire to spend hours in front of a keyboard trading. I simply want to know the facts so that I can decide whether this is a share that has a better than average chance of making me some extra money. This has a way to go before this is nailed on, and I think we all know that. I want to learn what the pitfalls might be and what the company needs to do to get over the line. Correct me if I am wrong but it seems straightforward. We need to agree a RBL and increase our production rate to around 2700/3000bopd from our existing wells in the short term. The rest will be a bonus (a big one) if we can get the massive find up and running.
I must admit to being very confused by those who are selling. If it's because you desperately need the cash then fair enough. (You must be desperate). If you are selling because you believe the sp will go lower then imo you are taking a huge risk. It is far more likely to rise than fall from here. Any falls are also likely to be small, so why take the risk?
Imo, until we get RBL and oil flowing, there will be all sorts of shenanigans here. Lies will be spread, misinformation will be spouted, Trolls will be in heaven disrupting whenever they can. It will get worse and if anyone thinks the FCA will step in to stop market manipulation, they are deluded. I know Sharebels views and share his frustrations, but nothing is going to change. We may have a couple of months of this. I vowed to myself that I would look in at 7.30 am each morning and only then. I have popped in at least half a dozen times so far this morning. No will power!! Anyway..........GLALTH as usual.
Steve, I too am nervous. My experiences with WRES and SNG (and others) show that totally unexpected things can come out of left field and scupper the best of plans. However, this is the risk we have decided to take. I am about 30k down on my investments so far which is a huge amount for me. I have always done as much research as I can, and so far, because of a combination of bad luck, stupidity, greed and other things, I have steadily lost my investments. Copl is no different. It is a risk. It is not nailed on by any means. There is a lot we (and AM) don't know but the upsides could be excellent. I am sure you realised the risks before you paid your money. This could still go t*ts up. If it's causing you sleepless nights then you need to rethink what you are doing here. As I have previously mentioned, I have green boxed the idiots and I get a more balanced overview as a result. I (obviously) hope this will come good and it is not the latest in a long line of disappointments. This will need patience to get your rewards as Art and his team have a great deal of work to do over the next few months. Hard as it might be, ignore the current sp as it clearly bears no relation to the actual value of the company. Good luck
