Hi daltry. Nah, I wouldn't filter you. I suspect there must be a little part of you that agrees with some of the comments otherwise you wouldn't still hang on to your holding in PPS. Or have you sold now?

Breaking news though...I sold half my PPS holding today. I decided that the valuation is high enough for now whilst they don't have significant sales/orders to show. And I'm uncomfortable with the share structure that could dilute and dilute for years holding the share price down...if they had a reason to.

I couldn't see they had anything to do with green energy any more...what am I missing?

The share price suggests that people might be starting to recognise that the results are 'normal' and to be expected. The story hasn't changed. Still optimistic.

oneandonly1, do you really mean PVCS as in - PV CRYSTALOX SOLAR PLC? If so, what makes you think that will be good in 2020, or even still exist by the end of 2020?

Unfortunately the results posted today were always going to look like that. It is important to remember that you buy shares in a company based on where you think it's going not where it's been. Results postings can only report factual numbers and they're always in the past...even the pipeline numbers are only the ones they know about. On a personal level, I'm still confident that the future potential is much much bigger, but those reports days are still a year or more away.

Being not UK specific, the companies I feel have the best chance to turn their portfolio of products into successes (based on products, allegiances and partnerships, and country alignments) are Ceres Power, ITM, Plug Power, Ballard Power, NEL, and I'm just about to take a position on PowerCell. Out of these only two are UK based companies, so I'll be interested in the list you propose.

oneandonly1, why specifically UK listed? Is it for easy access on most trading platforms? Or specifically to find UK-based winners...PPS is basically a company operating from Germany, am I right?

At least the net result was positive all round, let's see what next week brings. ITM are reporting half year results on Monday, so maybe that'll throw a double-six onto the hydrogen/FC board-game.

Might be close, but I think oneandonly1 could just about win this one later today.

The reason I chose both is that the market potential for hydrogen should be huge and diverse. NEL seem to winning more in refueling stations (e.g. South Korea and Nikola Motors) and ITM seem to be gaining more in industrial applications. In case of a winner takes all scenario I couldn't take the risk of backing the wrong one. If one goes bust and the other takes all, the gains from the winner will far outweigh the losses from the other.

Hi whatabout, yes I'm invested in NEL. You can trade NEL on Hargreaves Lansdown. It's traded in Norwegian Kroner so there is an added currency risk (and higher trading costs due to the currency exchange) to consider.

Obviously we were all anticipating ITM could drop following such a rapid rise recently. But there are two pretty important RNS statements out today, one from Ceres Power, the other from NEL which could be fueling the move.

Ceres have had a major increase in investment from their partner Bosch today and within their announcement said that their SOFC could potentially be used in reverse as an electrolyser.

The NEL announcement I think is more significant, raising funds through private placement and stating...
"The activity of Nel’s competitors is also growing, with selected competitors receiving capital injections from large industrial companies during 2019. In order to maintain and improve its position, the Company believes it needs to step up the activity level even faster than it previously envisioned. In addition, projects grow in order of magnitude and Nel sees the need to have a strong balance sheet and financial position in order to take on and successfully deliver on future projects."

...that fairly obviously is reference to ITM and Linde. So clearly NEL are feeling a little threatened and are going to up their game. ITM need to stay on their toes.

It seems like all hydrogen and fuel cell related stocks are up this big for the start of the year. Naturally climate change and future replacement of fossil fuels is the reason. The directors selling is the shareholder SFN Cleantech which is also the source of loan funding to PPS. I'm pretty sure that the selling and the loan funding are directly related. When private investor buying is at a low level the director's selling keeps the stock price subdued, but on days like today the only other result is a share price hike to encourage some other holders to sell instead.
