Hey Ace good to hear from you. Decided to change the "Thread back to our board GGP and chat".

Over the past week I have had 3 friends join GGP and have purchased quite a few at around 8.38+ ish so hope they do well.

I am trying very hard to reduce the shares in my Trading account that has taken years to reduce and transfer into my ISA account but every time the SP rises it will take longer to clear and maybe I will be looking down from above and saying why did I start a "trading account"with a huge chuckle from the Angels👼🏻👼🏻👼🏻👼🏻👼🏻 saying we all are in ISA 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Have a Greta w/e bud and hopw we continue over the w/e with true GGP chat.

If we are talking about cash ISA’s that are ATM tax free and held by millions including Children savings accounts opened by their parents on the understanding they were tax free savings hence ISA savings that may have been opened years ago.

So what would they do look at how long an account was opened then tell the investors they were now back taxing all interest since the account was opened, this just couldn’t happen.

It is a tax free account or it’s not you can’t have both.

Imagine if the government confirmed they would start taxing all ISA accounts there would be absolute chaos with people removing all their cash to save elsewhere. I would immediately.

I can understand that new rules may be on the cards but this could only happen and applied to new accounts and surely not on accounts that have been been opened years ago. They may as well just close any further dealings through ISA’s as just not worth opening up such an opportunity for savings.

Let’s hope they take a serious view what damage this suggestion could have to millions of savers and investors including us🙏

Dozer hey, yes you are correct but that was what the discussion was about months ago. The outcome was that if they wanted to tax ISA’s it would and could only happen to New accounts and not to existing accounts that have been opened years ago on the understanding they were tax free. If they did this they could then say all ISA SAVINGS ACCOUNTS including children’s could be taxed as they also would be considered as windfalls and taxable.

This would make a mockery of all ISA accounts and IMHO this would be changing horses in the middle of the stream and surly against the law and existing government policies/rules.

Let’s hope they do not attempt to go down this road.

Speedy hey, thanks and I understand what you are saying, however if they did attack our ISA accounts it would not be worth having such an account. ?

I remember a few months ago this was discussed in great detail and some suggested that to ask for ISA holders to pay tax would not happen as these are promoted as Tax free so maybe it would only happen to “NEW” accounts that would have to say any windfalls would be taxable, so what would be the point of having an ISA share dealing account? Existing ISA accounts could not be taxed IMHO as they were opened as tax free and surely one can not change the existing ISA rules on existing accounts there would be uproar to say the least and many would simply remove their money and close their accounts.

Personally I would hate to see this happen and the system would collapse for sure as the current system rules state “TAX FREE “
