The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Totally agree, but this is aim listed, and so you cannot rule out market sentiment and the herd. If ECR get their act together and play the PR stunt, it just takes on main cheerleader and an orchestrated buy in and this will surge. There's no proper regulation of aim, so no one gives a hoot, including the FCA, so it just takes a few drivers, and we could be away, but the company have to play ball and capitalise on positive market sentiment when it happens. Eurasia had nothing, it still has nothing, but it went from nothing to 43p! Now if that happened here, I'd pass out! I also lost a lot in the Eurasia debacle because my mind was distracted with something else, and I didn't cash in the million when I was up and put it in a fund, whilst i concentrated on something else, but I was under a huge time constraint with writing a paper, and so my mind was averted, then Putin started the war which we all thought wouldn't happen, and my million fell to half a million on open and then rapidly below. I managed to get out between 16p down to 12p, but it wasn't pretty, and I'm never letting that happen again I hope! I'm sure we all have many stories to tell about our unfortunate losses on the aim merry go round! but, when shares on aim move, they often move at a rapid pace, and tha's what we love them for!
I mentioned the other day that I'm interested to know if we can prove up any lithium? Western Australia has an abundance of it in the rocks, and the Government are eager for it so as to be self sufficient for lithium batteries for electric vehicles. If we have lithium it will be a massive bonus imo.

I certainly agree that sentiment plays a big part, herd mentality is a big factor and was very much evident with eurasia. Most of those that made a fortune on eurasia are now living it up in Dubai probably!
Have a feeling the same will happen here once momentum gets going. Perhaps Aberdeenman/Mac4671 needs to speak to the ECR board?
There's still plenty of money sloshing around here in London, plus many of the youngsters managed to reduce their mortgage liabilities substantially during covid, so have more 'free' money floating around. A friend of mine, his son is only 38, and he's managed to pay off most of his mortgage during covid, and next year his home will be his own with his wife, so there is definitely money around, including the likes of those who bummed off to Dubai and are investing tax free! I wish I was one of them, but getting a bit too old now I think sadly, unless I can purloin another toy boy! :)
Patience will pay off in the long run. Trouble is no one holds for more than 5 minutes these days. This is a long hold, but if eurasia could go from nowhere on nothing to 42p, and that was in Russia, and Greatland can rise to 6p on very little, and that is in SW Australia, then at the moment, we are some way behind! We will catch up.

I believe the University of Cambridge one developed prior to this only had a life span of around 20 years, whereas the RUA one is estimated to have a more durable life span which would be quite an advancement. But please feel free to correct me if you know better, and I'm missing something.
This was Moggridge, for comparison, back in 2020.

Thanks Atisha, the markets are volatile everywhere, that's why at the moment imo, it doesn't pay to stay long for too long! Threats of more war, etc, markets will remain volatile. I agree with your sentiments, I was shocked, I didn't think he would bale a second time around, but there we have it, I shouldn't have been taken in, but I'm not sat here blaming anyone for it, it was my decision, and mine alone, and I left when I felt it was right for me to do so.
I wish you the very best of luck with it and if I see a recovery in play, I might be back to join you. As I've said before, I sincerely hope for those left in that there will be good news and not bad. GLA.
If i lack self awareness, then how come rua which I mentioned yesterday to help if anyone was interested, had a great rns this morning and is on the rise. Some of you just don't listen, and attack posters who could actually help you if you wanted. I have explained I was positive here, just as much as others when the bid situation was announced, because I thought that on the second occasion of asking, Dunkerton would go for it and not let shareholders down, but I was wrong, I held my hand up to it and pointed out the red flags that concerned me. I posted my trades to show I was bailing, at a bit of a loss I hasten to add, but it's your decision what you do, not mine, and you shouldn't go around blaming anonymous posters on a free for all chat site. Get over it.
If they pull this off re: heart valves. DYOR.
It's not just about gold, lithium is in very short supply and Australia has it in abundance.

And here's another one of the gang trying to discredit me elsewhere and this is my response to Humpy this morning over there. Get a life Humpy and take a good look at yourself.
"What a sad individual you are Humpy, following me around like a bad smell and trying to discredit me because you failed to exit a share that was falling away on bad news. Don't blame me, yes, I was positive, but so were many others, yet you think it's okay to pick on me?
Well I've got news for you here, my first buy here is below, some 6 months ago, I've been accummulating steadily, has anyone seen me ramping here? i nearly always provide facts to back up my views, and I am now holding 8,712,545 as of COP last night, and am aiming for 10 mill. Get a life Humpy and the rest of your mates.

Bucketman, you haven't a clue. Firstly, I've learned the hard way over 20 years, I've lost hundreds of thousands on shares, including only recently on the eurasia saga, also ctag, and countless others before that. I am always honest and open with my postings, even to the point of posting my trades at times, which is more than can be said for you, or most of those on here who are quick to criticize but very slow to repent, if at all.
After eurasia, I reminded myself, which I do constantly now, if you're money isn't working for you, put it somewhere where it will work for you, so that should apply to everyone, if red flags start appearing, don't ignore them, if the sp starts falling, don't sit there like a rabbit in the headlights, you have to use your own intuition and sense, and if you didn't start to exit when those red flags came along a couple of weeks ago and time was marching on, then you only have yourself to blame, don't blame me or others, and no, I don't know Justanothernoob, nor who he is or she is, and no, I'm not mentally ill, I'm studying for a Masters, even at my age, so I would suggest you reflect on some of your damning comments, especially as I have a degree in psychology, and you probably don't I would imagine.
As for illness, that's another contributing factor that in recent times, has also helped change my investing strategy, I was seriously ill with sepsis, it's life threatening, and I hope to God you never get it and suffer from it. Had you done so, I think you would think twice before making the depraved comments that you seem to enjoy targeting towards me. Shame on you.
To everyone else still trapped here, it's not too late to exit and try and recoup your losses elsewhere. I've had to do it again following eurasia, it was a bitter pill to swallow, and it's taken me 2 years to finally start to climb out of that mess, but it taught me something very crucial, bearing in mind the times we are living in, and that is, AIM is totally uninvestable, and even FTSE listed companies are beginning to crumble. Someone recently in the media asked, how much longer will the London Stock Exchange survive? it's demise might not be that far away!
I wonder if investors might have a claim against the TOP, as they should have investigated properly about a persons ability to finance a buy out, and not just because they have personal wealth, but in detail as to how the finance was supposed to be raised from third party sources. Imo the announcement should not have been made until there was concrete evidence that Dunkerton had backing from the various parties he was in discussions with, until that was firmed up and in principle agreed, there should never have been an announcement of a bid situation which then deceived investors in reality, that there would be a serious attempt at a buy out. Yes, I realise there is a flimsy rider on the bottom of the statements, but it is just that, flimsy, and I don't think it is necessarily enough of a get out clause for the TOP! Just my thoughts, but it might be worth a quick bit of free advice if anyone has legal insurance with their home cover that covers any possible legal issue?
Perhaps all of those well under water should contact the company and say they want to make a bid! Bid situation recorded and the sp rises again! As no one seems to check on finance from intended bidders, go for it, you'll have 30 days of pure grace to twiddle your thumbs :)
"When a company enters administration, the shares held by the shareholders usually become worthless. Shareholders are often left with no claim to the company’s assets or future profits1. In other words, their shares lose value, and they may not receive any compensation from the company’s assets during the administration process."
Hopefully, Dunkerton would lose his. Best way to go after all of this. imo.
