(Alliance News) - Caspian Sunrise PLC said Monday it will undertake acid operations in the deep well A5 at Airshagyl structure in BNG contract area, western Kazakhstan, to maximise the well's potential.
Shares in oil & gas firm were trading 14% lower in London at 6.62 pence each on Monday.
The company said the after perforation of a 63 metre interval between 4,331 metres and 4,394 metres, the well has now flowed for 40 days. The management believes that well is capable of producing at least 1,500 barrels of oil per day.
Caspian said at this early stage the focus is to ensuring the continuous flow rather than maximising flow rates, therefore the company is "in no hurry for the well to reach its optimum operating capacity" and is considering a number of actions which might help to maximise A5's potential.
As a result, in late February, the company will start operations to conduct an acid job using hydrochloric acid, which is expected to last for three days.
Caspian said its next deep well is expected to be deep well A9, which, if successful, would extend the perimeter of the Airshagyl structure. The company expects to spud the well in the first half of 2020.
The company also said the total number of barrels produced in January was 44,169, compared to 43,498 in December 2019, at a daily rate of 1,425 barrels of oil per day, compared to 1,403 in December.
The export price in January, before adjustment for subsequent minor variations, was USD59.6 per barrel, the same as in December, and the domestic price was USD18.75 per barrel compared to USD18 per barrel in December.
