RE: The future of oncology is “targeted cancer killing agents”.18 Feb 2024 12:39
All about ADC's currently. BUT whoever licenses or purchases pre|CISION they get something easier to manufacture and exquisitely targeted.
Quote from the Q&A:
Compared with an ADC, which requires production of both the antibody and warhead, their conjugation (linking together) and then purification of the ADC from the unlinked components in the mixture, the cost of production of a pre|CISION chemotherapy is considerably lower.
pre|CISION addresses some challenges that ADCs face, namely: ADCs need to target an internalising tumour biomarker, expressed at very high levels on the surface of the tumour cell, and this affects the amount of drug that can be got into the cancer cells to kill them whereas pre|CISION therapies do not need to be internalised to release the drug. By targeting release of the payload in the tumour microenvironment, there will be a bystander effect i.e. all cells within the vicinity of the payload will be killed. ADCs are, in general, complex and expensive to manufacture, whereas pre|CISION chemotherapies are relatively simple and affordable. There is therefore scope for both approaches to coexist.
