Why would RR even think of ditching the SMR division only as recently as August 2024?

Could it be because they knew that it’s:

“roughly twice as expensive per power as the average 1.4 GW reactor,

roughly quadruple the price of the cheapest 1.2 GW reactors of recent construction.”.

Seems SMR have been over-hyped, “smaller is better”, “modular construction”, “built in lab”, etc, etc.

Seems If RR does get the go ahead with its SMRs, it’ll probably be for political reasons, bit like the HS2 infrastructure project.
