IMHO, it looks like it's being pushed down, but definitely not effectively.

Another tungsten enterprise in Jiangxi raised its national standard first-grade black tungsten ore price by 56,000 yuan/mtu MoM to 511,000 yuan/mtu. The significant increase in long-term contract prices for the second half of the month boosted market bullish sentiment. In the afternoon, spot order quotations for domestic ore and APT and other upstream products showed another sharp increase."

The institutions are usually somewhat 'sheeplike', so having a big player increase their holding is generally a good thing in that respect.

Greatland Resources Retained at 'Overweight' at Barrenjoey with Price Target of A$13.25 (up 10.25% on last PT in November of A$12.00).

For anyone who doesn't recognise the rating 'Overweight', it basically means that the stock is one that a stock financial analysts believe will outperform a benchmark stock, security, or index. The overweight recommendation signals to investors to devote a larger percentage of their portfolio to the stock. Hence the term “overweight”. Essentially similar to BUY.

The GGP SP hit a record high of A$13.06 (£6.53); closing at A$12.90 (£6.45) on the ASX today.

Hi LesBoy, There was a discussion on this article on here on the 14th January in the thread, 'Short Position Volatility'. The consensus view was that it was a poor, unresearched piece. I stated that my immediate thoughts, when I read it, were that, IMHO, it just goes to show how a lack of proper research, and misunderstanding of a company, it's recent news, and management style, can totally affect a viewpoint. It's vital to understand that these guys are looking at numerous companies, and just don't have the time to delve deep into each. This is especially the case, as most of us know, with Greatland, where things are moving at pace, and evolving very quickly. There's no mention of the likes of the upcoming Telfer & WDU maiden MRE's, which are imminent. Also, let's be straight here, they can, and do sometimes have their own agenda and/or their companies. I'm not implying anything of the type here, but it's a fact generally.

Hi Ratboy! I think that they'll all have to re-rate after the impending Telfer/WDU MRE's. I haven't seen the CG note, but most of the brokers haven't even factored the WDU into their research yet, at least not in a numerical way anyway.

Tim McCormack from Canaccord Genuity has maintained a Buy rating on Greatland Resources, with a price target of A$12.50 (up from A$11.25).

"We lift our LT gold price to US$3,600/oz today (prev US$3,000/oz). We think the gold price could easily push to above US$5,000/oz but we think keeping a conservative LT gold price allows us to screen for quality assets, which is our focus. Silver, currently >US$85/oz, has run much harder, so we lift our LT price estimate to US$50/oz (prev US$35/oz)."

This is what many seem to miss, and I see as increasingly important going forwards, but not just for institutional, for RETAIL too....

Additionally, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon noted that in the current environment of high asset valuations and geopolitical instability, it is “semi-rational” to have a portfolio allocation to gold which could easily reach $5,000-$10,000/oz in the current environment."

Yup, I believe that's exactly where we are now, and expect +/- sp moves probably much in line with the price of gold. I'm pretty sure that we'll see a pretty substantial move north when the world gets to hear that we have a new 'mine within a mine' in the WDU, which most analysts haven't even factored, at all, into their research notes yet. That, of course, with the overall Telfer updated MRE and rubber stamped life of mine extension too.

Hi Snorkler, I believe that the cut-off date for the Telfer MRE & WDU Maiden MRE would have been the 31st December 2025. I'm not sure if that's been specifically stated anywhere, but the Greatland Gold 2024 Group Mineral Resource Statement last year, which was presented on the 18th March, had that cut-off date.

As per the last Greatland Annual Report "The sale to Aventine Resources demonstrates Greatland’s approach to exploration portfolio optimisation and its support of the Aventine Resources team to establish a new greenfields gold explorer in the Paterson Region", and, "A final Non-Executive Director will be appointed by Greatland Resources, as a foundation and substantial shareholder of Aventine Resources, at an appropriate time in the future."

Gold’s powerful rally is beginning to echo one of the most dramatic periods in modern financial history, with veteran market watchers drawing striking parallels to the late-1970s gold supercycle. After surging 65 per cent last year, gold recorded its strongest annual performance since 1979, catching the attention of a new generation of investors who have never experienced a true inflation-driven bullion boom.

For Cameron Judd, a long-time gold specialist at Victor Smorgon Group, today’s market feels uncomfortably familiar. He sees clear similarities between the current bull run—now in its second year—and the 1978–1980 period, when the US Federal Reserve lost control of inflation and investor confidence in the US dollar deteriorated sharply....

....Global gold equities are trading at just 6.5 times forward earnings, below the long-term average of 7.5 times and well under the broader equity market multiple of 13.5 times.

Other fund managers agree. Argonaut’s Global Gold Fund, which returned 119 per cent in 2025, remains positioned for further upside. Its largest holdings include Genesis Minerals, Capricorn Metals, Greatland Resources and Bellevue Gold.

“Tailwinds for gold remain firmly in place,” said portfolio manager David Franklyn. “Investors continue to seek alternatives to the US dollar, global debt levels remain elevated, and geopolitical tensions show no signs of easing.”

For bullion investors, the message is clear: if history continues to rhyme, the current gold cycle may still be in its early stages — with substantially higher prices yet to come.
